| What size rings to use when putting on new hooks. Do you use number 3's or 4's or what ? |

| Bucher #7's on most everything.
No 5's on the smaller stuff.
If you wanna get really creative and you have nothing better to do. Try putting a #5 inside a #7 on one hook.

| i use wolverine super rings, mostly #5's and 6's. the #7's are for big baits and bucktails, and the #5 customs are for baits with smaller eyescrews and wire loops. as a side note, i make my steel leaders with #5's instead of snaps, works great!

| Just to clarify things.
I don't double my split rings. Especially with the Buchers.
I tried it once with some cheaper ones and after losing my sanity, gave up.
Plain old single Bucher #7's cover more than 90% of what I have.

Location: Yahara River Chain | Scott, please don't misread my thread, I did not imply that you are insane (however, the rest of you I'm not so sure ).
I was merely pointing out that as strong as those Bucher split rings are, something else would break before you break (or open) a single Bucher split ring. I also used to double split ring some baits like the joint on a Mepps, but those were cheaper rings back in the 80s.
