| My prevous post brought this question. What do you really expect to catch...numbers or giants....
Canada is no doubt really good, but not for numbers in my opinion unless you go to a stunted muskie lakes.
When I go, I expect to catch one muskie a day. Mostly because I dont back on smaller fish. To go back on thirty inchers that are bread and butter fish in the states seams foolish. You will still catch some mid thirty fish...but your not targeting them. The amount of larger fish you move sure increases and you soon forget about the size you are happy to catch in the states.
What is your opinion on the subject?

| Steve, isn't that dangerous having Jason net fish taller the he is?......LOL! |
|

|
| I would be more than happy to get one fish over 50" for the entire week! I would settle for a fat 47 or 48,and that would beat my personal best.Hopefully this year...Good Luck to all,Paul

| It's all in the client's frame of mind and it's something that I think falls on the numbers vs. size game .
Personally if I ever got a chance to go to Canada and fish for a week,I would hope to land 5 and have a shot at a 50"er, even if it's not hooked , I would like to say that I had a shot.
If I was heading "up north"[ being from W.Va.], I think I'd head for Lake of the Woods. Proven track record for size and numbers. |

| I would agree with you that 1 per day would be nice. While some trips that can be easy, and others you start to think that all the muskies have died. There are to many varyables.
Personally, a few fish would be nice and to have a shot at a real pig would be a great trip! |

| I go to Canada in search of "larger than average" fish with the legitimate CHANCE at a real monster. For me, that is typically anything in the 20# plus range with the dream that a 40 pounder might happen. This is a VERY realistic goal.
I've had trips where in 4 days of pounding we boated one good fish. I've had trips where in 4 days of pounding we had 12 fish in the boat with one day getting skunked and 3 of those fish over 45 inches. BOTH were great trips. We've had guys go up to 15 consecutive days on LOTW without a fish too, but they still think the trip was a blast. I think just being there is a real treat.
I suppose you could say that my expectation for Canada is "Quality not Quantity".... however BOTH can easily happen. It can be heaven and it can be hell. Thats the glory of musky fishing.... even in Canada. Be realistic with your expectations and you will always enjoy it. Maybe I'm a little conservative... but that is my approach to crossing the border.

| My Son and I will be on LOTW this summer for a whole week fishing with Doug Johnson for 5 of those days, We may not get a monster but I am sure we will at least see some

| I go for both. But it's mostly a numbers game for me. Where I fish you can easily have multiple fish days with a good shot at 50". But I like the numbers of fish I can catch there. |

| Heck I would love to catch one too with my Girth....LOL[] |

| Jason:
I would love to get one a day. I also agree that there are those stunted lakes where 20 in a day is not unusuall but all fish are under 30 inches. That is not why i go to canada. I have seen a number of guys go a whole week without boating a fish (seeing some monsters). Not having too much experience up there, i go up planning on trying for a big one. 48" is my best so far and i am not unhappy about that but will keep going for the "others" i have seen and hooked. | I would have to agree with you one per day. My best trips to LOW are six for a week and 8 for my boat. I am basically like everyone else looking for bigger fish.[] |

Jason,
Just hope we don't have a week like the one on the LOTW two years ago. Was that eight boats fishing 10-12 hours and NOT ONE fish was seen. That's 160 man hours without a fish seen.
I anticipate bigger fish and to catch 10-12 fish in a week is good.
