| I want to get an order off to Thorne Bros. but need some suggestions. I'm looking at two 8'6" Shimano TDR rods for my long, flat lines and was wondering what ACTION (medium-heavy or medium) to get. If it helps I will be trolling smaller cranks (shad sized). Because of this I was leaning toward the medium action but is there any advantage of having a rod with a little more backbone?

| Trolling rods are usually made lighter than their muskie counerparts. Go with the MH for sure.

| Go with MH even for smaller lures, they work fine with lots of backbone yet fast action tip. Catfish rods work great if you can't find Musky Rods you like, or the right length. |

| Call Thornes and they will get you into the right rig. For trolling I would go with an inexpensive glass rod in a lighter action than you would think. Softer rods are more forgiving and keep the hooks in better than faster actions and stiffer rods. Save your $ for the rods you cast with. |
