Posts: 358 | In past years, I have good success with Rapala Husky Jerks twitched over newly emerging weed growth. Last year, I had especially good results twitching Molly baits (pre-spawn fish.) 41 degree water + 10" Molly = 43" Musky! Post spawn, I like using the 7" Molly, #206 Crane baits, and small bucktails.

We don't open until 3rd Saturday in June, but the pike fishing at this time's good on 5" HJ's, a variety of jigs, Rattle Traps, broad, light spoons, and spinnerbaits with hair/boo. See a lot of skis at this time, throw the other way.

Posts: 20213 Location: oswego, il | I have found something interesting for early spring. Baits with very little erratic action, deadsticking as I call it seem to get more action. In other words, baits that that don't do didley when you twitch them had more action, or all the action as compared to a bait that got sideways or some whacky direction when you twitched it. A slower glider with less action seems to do better too. Small spinners also work well. The water is cold and I think the fish are more apt to hit baits with less movement.

Posts: 3240 Location: Racine, Wi | Suckers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! While dragging suckers I throw Undertakers, husky jerks, suicks, pretty much any other minnow bait. The wife does well on 1/2 oz bass size spinnerbaits. Like GD said, don't forget about the topwaters.
