| For the last couple years I've toyed with the idea of organizing a "musky camp" - a multi day camping/fishing trip on musky water with adults and older kids. A very big part of this is to spend time with the kids teaching them tips on camping and fishing. I'm wondering if you guys have any ideas about this venture. Here's what I've thought of so far......
1. at least 4 days/nights in the summer, maybe more, so folks can really relax
2. do it on a river system so we with small boats can fish even if we get hit with really bad/windy weather
3. campsite has to be on the water, must have boat landing at or very near the camp, so we have easy and instant access for comin's and goin's.
4. the location must be pretty rustic
5. responsible/discrete partying encouraged, obvious drunkeness strongly discouraged
6. adults will take turns fixing camp dinners, great spreads are expected
7. kids clean and do most/all grunt work, adults cooked and besides we've paid our dues
8. muskies are the theme, but we won't turn up our noses at folks fishing for whatever
These are all just some thoughts I've been rolling around in my mellon. I like the idea of establishing an annual affair if I could get the right core of people to regularly participate.
What do you think, folks? If you've done something similar in the past, what tips would you offer?
Thanks,

| A 12'row boat trip down the Wisconsin river might be a good place to start. You will have to make sure the kids get to fish for smallmouths to keep them happy.[] |

| Ranger, you may want to consider a trip down the Flambeau River. There are some rapids, but I have gone through some of them in a flat bottom boat. The camp sites that I have seen looked like there was plenty of room and are well kept. The fishing can be a bit tricky,on the stretches of river I have been on, there were lots, and I mean lots of floating weeds.Good Luck and I hope I have helped,Paul |

| Muskies Canada does a weekend trip every year with many games for the kids as well as some for the adults. You might want to look into the Muskies Canada website and look for the family outing. There you might get in contact with the folks that run this great outing year after year. [:sun:] |
