Posts: 432 Location: mpls | Can anyone tell me anything about fishing this lake? I will be going next weekend to fish with a couple of friends. None of us has ever fished there and would love any info. Thanks, Joe | ||

Posts: 1188 Location: Iowa | I don't know what you guys are talking about with the water not being clear and the majority of the fish are caught trolling...coming from someone who fishes there a good deal of the time I fish for muskies in Iowa...the main lake is stained but there is visibility down to about 4 feet...the area by the #*^@ is very dirty however...but the majority of the fish that I have caught and seen there have been casting...we have caught one trolling, but many more than that casting...I never fail to at least see a fish while I am there either...the reefs in the lake are where we see the majority of our fish...Billy's and Hy-Vee are our top producers...also off Dodge's Point we have moved fish and the reeds on the east end hold fish from time to time...if you find the white bass fisherman you will find a muskie or two...don't be affraid to go right in there and play bumber boats either...those #*^@ walleye and white bass fisherman do it to us all the time...don't let them push you around...many people don't believe that there is much structure but really you have about a weekends worth of spots on spots to fish...there is something called the saddle on the north end that I would suggest too...if all else fails just start trolling open water or around the reefs that I mentioned and you should be good...I have fished this lake quite a bit so don't think I am blowing smoke up your a$$...there are plenty of fish in that lake and good sized ones too...I have seen some in the mid to upper 40" range and there have been a couple 50" caught...kept of course...
