Hi,
I'm wondering what the bottom bait pictured is. It is similar to an eddie but is thinner. I included an eddie in the pic for comparison. They are both the 8inchers.
Thanks for your help,
Krishna

Looks like an old Teddie Bait, later marketed by Lindy under the "Big Jerk" name.Oh, do I have a Teddie Bait story!1978, neighbors dock, new 8" Teddie on my Heddon Pal /5000 combo loaded with 25lb mono.Hook a fish at the end of the dock, drag is locked down.Good fish too.Rear hook pulls out of the bait, which, like a missile, hits me square between the eyes.Fish swims away and I walk to the house with a golfball coming out of my forehead crying like a p%$#$#@.Miraculously, no other hooks in my face either.Musta been the torpedo shape hitting my head straight on.May of 1978, I just turned 10.Wow, has it been that long??!! Thanks for the help guys. A friend of mine had story much like yours, except he wasn't so lucky. He got a spoon to the head while pike fishing. He was at a fly-in resort in Canada and had to be flown out. That is one good reason to always wear a hat and sunglasses. They keep hooks out of your eyes and forehead.

A Teddie Bait it is, later named for me former boss, the "Big Jerk." The original Teddie Bait was named by and for our 26th President, Teddy Roosevelt. Having had a stuffed aminal named after him, the Teddy Bear, Roosevelt was fast becoming an icon amongst the hunting community, but the fisher peeps soon began complaining that they were being slighted. This greatly troubled him, so one afternoon he went out to the lake to mull over this dilema. While strolling along the shore, walking softly and carrying a big stick, a humongo 'ski came outta the weed bed and soaked the startled president, who outta reflex, threw the stick in the water. Much to his surprise, the fish struck the stick as it bobbed up and down, and at that moment, Teddy knew his problem was solved. Upon returning home, he immediately began production of a smaller version of the big stick, which soon became known as the "Teddie Bait", much to the delight of fisher peeps everywhere. Before long, peeps began to add hooks and catching fish. and the fish swam away w/ the spoon...

very cool.
i've got one of those myself (all black), an old lure my father-in-law didn't have a use for.
after trying it out i can see why he didn't need it...
always wondered what it was, though.

I believe that you folks are correct in the assumtion that this is a "Teddie" bait. However I think that it was marketed by Ted Capra from Blaine MN and then later sold to his very close friends Al and Ron Linder, who, at that time still owned "Lindy Little Joe". I don't know this for sure but I think I am on the right track.
