Posts: 32953 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | What are you doing this winter getting ready for next season? I'm totally reorganizing my tackle boxes in order of use instead of just classification. Less tackle in the boat, and better focus on lures that produce for me regularly. Soon as the weather breaks, it's a project to make sure my rig is ready for the Cave in March.

Posts: 2515 Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | Sifting through the unused and old stuff so I can give that away to guys who need it. Adding split rings to everything. Sharpening hooks. Gathering up everything that needs to be repainted or is in need of touchup or redos. Carpet cleaning the boat, looking at the welds, adding a new sonar and doing paint touch up as well. Posts: 1996 Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | I have to eliminate about 150 baits that I take in the boat. It has been getting ridiculous, the number of baits I have with me. Get my reels to Chuck Nelson so he can do his thing to them. Check all eyes on old rods to make sure they aren't damaged. Rig up new rods and reels aquired during the off season. Research a few new lakes I have my eyes on. Reinventory my baits to include this seasons purchases. This includes digital pictures. I do this just in case I need proof for the insurance man if some boxes ever become missing.

Posts: 2112 Location: The Sportsman, home, or out on the water | Kid, I have had surgery on my shoulder, because i dislocated it like 30-some odd times, and dislocated it once 11 years after the surgery. If I can give you some advice, it would be to start slow, then, as you get your strength back, work out those shoulders every derned day for the rest of yer life! Rob

Posts: 20269 Location: oswego, il | I am stepping up my workout as well. Need to be more committed than I have been lately. Unlike norm, I have to figure out how I am going to get all this new tackle IN the boat. Try to find a plce that still sells round rubber for bucktails.

Posts: 691 Location: nationwide | I had a fishing buddy of mine talk me into making a few topwater lures this winter. I have not made any lures for about 10-12 years and it is actually kind of fun to get back into a little. Attached is one of the creations. Posts: 354 | I reduced the baits in the boat last year. It was one of the better moves I've made. I now only carry what I call "A" baits or those which have raised or caught fish. It really helped build confidence on the water and simplified things a lot. I do not miss any of the baits that I parted with last winter. I now only carry about 50 baits in the boat at anytime. Just a few deep cranks, shallow cranks, chopper jerks, glide baits, bucktails, spinnerbaits, topwater, and a few irregulars/plastics. I would recommend this project. I like to locate a few very specific baits each winter. I also like to research bodies of water a lot. Pretty much the same thing that Muskyboy stated earlier. I also like to go to the musky shows and pimp people for information. I will talk to anyone and more importantly listen to them. Bill C. aka the greenduck

Posts: 45 Location: Appleton, Wi | I need to get the bedroom set made that I promised my wife last fall. If I do not get it started soon, my opening day of fishing could be delayed. As far as getting equipment and baits ready I just use Muskie E's stuff until I get my ready to go. No hurry!!

Posts: 16 Location: Michigan's U.P. | Sifting through my baits and attempting to sell the ones I do not use. I too have a few "A" baits that work for me and I am reducing my inventory a bit. I have yet to sharpen hooks or do the reels...but I am still looking at snow piled up to my window and there is 20 inches of ice on the lake so I have a ways to go yet.
