Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | I've been known to throw an HR or 2....here's my suggestions:
8" Shaker - cant go wrong with the 8" shaker, but know it will be best for 5-8ft of water.
6" Shaker - probably as consistent a bait as the 8"er, however it wont go as deep, but a bit more versatile.
6" Hughey - my "go to" spring and action water bait. You'll move fish on it with a consistent side to side retrieve, or with an inconsistent retrieve that has the bait going up and down and all around.
They ARE a bit pricey, so here's my suggestion: dont buy your first one (or 3) in specific colors for one body of water or another, try to buy color patterns that you can use on a NUMBER of different bodies of water that you'll be fishing.
These baits AREN'T magic bullets, but versus other gliders, they are as good if not better than what the rest of the market holds.
Yes, I help to promote the biggest seller of Hughes Rivers, but I do so because I feel the baits ARE that good, and the guy who sells them out of Reese's is a really good guy (Roger Park). BUT, I really like the folks at Pastikas also!
So many HRs to buy, so little money. |
