Location: Greenfield, WI | A 100 year old landmark on North Twin Lake, Phelps, WI, burned to the ground Monday morning at about 3:00 AM. It housed dozens of mounts including a 48 lb. 10 oz. monster. What a shame. You can't rebuild character like that place had. It was a definition of a classic old up north Wisconsin bar and Restaurant. |

| Sorry to hear that Steve. If I'm thinking of the right place, it was you home away from home.
I think that your friends were the owners??? Are they all right?
In any case, it pretty much sucks.

| Man, what a shame. I remember going in there with my dad and uncle when I was just a kid. It was a beautiful place where you could sit and watch from the windows as guys worked "The Holiday Bar" for muskies and walleyes....not to mention all of the bird feeders that he used to have there.
I'll miss eating there when I head up to Phelps.

| Very sad as I have some great memories there. Hopefully there will be a NEW HOLIDAY for 2005! Many great contractors in the area to get the job done! |

Location: Algonquin, ILL | I can remember many a cold fall days fishing the Holiday Bar and then pulling into the resort for a hot meal, they may be able to rebuild but it can never be replaced, like others have said it had a charm all it's own. Glad to hear no one got hurt

Location: Greenfield, WI | Being there was like walking back to the 1940's or 1950's, into a time machine. Some of the deer mounts were probably that old, we would have "tongue-in-check" contests to guess what kind of animal they were supposed to be. |
