Posts: 326 Location: Plainfield IL | Fellow Musky Hunters- I would like to mention that I am in no way affiliated with or gaining anything from Musky Nut Tackle regarding this post about the Weagle top water bait. In addition I would like to mention that this is not the "magic bait" but simply another weapon for your arsenal of lures. A week or so ago I had the opportunity to fish with ToddM and Luke ChineWalker out on one of our favorite ponds. Todd owns a Weagle and shared the lure with Joe and myself. Joe initially had a mid 30's fish hooked after his 2nd or 3rd cast. Later in the day I started to throw the bait. After a few corrections from Todd and Joe to slow, slow, slow the bait down I enjoyed some success. I like the bait for its larger profile and weight. The bait rides lower in the water than a jackpot or top prey. With the larger profile and added weight the bait moves a ton of water and avoids being popped out of the water at strike time. I later hooked a nice 43" on this bait fishing open water suspended muskies. The strike is what I most remember: the fish did not follow the bait, and instead, she came up from under the bait like a missile. She literally engulfed the bait; it looked like a cigar in her mouth. She had about 2" of the head of the bait sticking out of her mouth. I am not stating to throw out your Jackpots, Top Preys or Docs, but simply look at the Weagle as another tool of the trade. Each lure has a right time and place. I am looking forward to the upcoming shows to get a few of these baits. Daryl Roche Running_Hot

| It's a great bait. But like you said, it's just another bait to add to your arsenal. Midge Moneyloser | |||

Posts: 32958 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Midge, I think this one will be added to the muskie lore as a bit more than 'just another bait'. Sometimes a bait simply produces really well over time, like the Suick. Wabull/Weagle are different, and they are special if only because of the moderately insane individuals involved in building and marketing the lures.

| In all seriousness, I did get 4 fish on the Weagle this year ... 37, 41, 43.5, and 47.5. I probably fished less this year than in the last 5 years, but I had my best season ever. I attribute part of my success to this bait. Midge | |||

Location: Minneapolis, MN | How much is the crazy boys at MuskyNut going to charge for the Weagle at the show? If its just another bait then it should be priced about same as a Jackpot right? lol

Posts: 663 | I give the Musky Nut crew a lot of credit for a very successful marketing campaign. They have done an excellent job of creating a "buzz" about this lure. I imagine you're right that they will sell all they can make at the shows. They have had great testimonials from users and backed it up with documenting the fish that have been caught on it. The fact that it is "hard to get" adds to the appeal.

Posts: 686 Location: Tomahawk, Wisconsin | I don't know if it is worth all the hype, hell I saw one on EBAY going for $41, BUT... they are a super tool if you like to catch muskies. I was throwing em in early April and they caught fish, they caught fish in the summer, they caught fish this fall. What more could I ask???

Posts: 20281 Location: oswego, il | Your welcome Daryl. I lend you my rod and reel with my weagle which was in decent shape at the start of the day and after that fish engulfed it, it's pretty beat up. You forgot to mention how much you liked my reel too.

| Oh yes it is worth the hype, but it will be just another lure once a million people have thrown them and muskies become conditioned to them. That said, virgin ground and GAME ON! | |||

| sounds like the Weagle production facility in the Twin Cities went tits-up and moved back up to Brainerd. after Joe Dirt rolls up to the Thorne Bros stand at the Chicago show and gets first in line with his checkbook...say it with me: secondary market. | |||

Posts: 4266 | They even move water on Lake Michigan. After I painted these in a mobile facility that I call my garage, I took them out to check out the death march. The people that were feeding the ducks thought that I was nuts, but they move a hell of a lot of water. I also repainted several of them for other people after they got beat up, so don't be affraid to ask for CPR for your Weagle when it needs it.
