Anyone still going to give it a try in the Metro. I like Tonka and am looking for advice on how deep to go, where to go,
what lures or live bait????? Fri, Sat and Sun look OK with highs for 37-38 degrees. I need to head out one last time!

I was out last week on WBL and water temps were 42 if I remember right.

I might go out trolling one last time this weekend.

I am still planning on getting out on Tonka this Sunday, once the relatives leave.

Would like to fish Friday - Sunday and find a pattern, but it looks like a one
hit wonder on Sunday. I hope I can find something active

My boat goes into storage on Dec. 4th -- then I have to rely on friends.

Good Luck!

We're planning on getting out on Tonka saturday and maybe sunday. As far as a pattern, I can tell you what didn't work for us last saturday [grin].
[we're going to blame it on the cold front;]

We decided to troll. Mostly crankbaits. 8" jointed Wileys, 10" believers [jointed and straight], Super Shads, some bucktails, from firetiger to black sucker. Nodda... We varied our depths, ranged from 8' to 36' and varied our speeds. We ran straight holding a depth, we zig-zagged between depths, we trolled along old weedbeds, we trolled calm water, we trolled wind blow shores... we trolled around structure, open water and saddles...

We didn't connect. Now, this weekend could be a totally different result, doing the same darn thing, ya never know...

If we do some casting, we will be checking shallow and looking for some sand... [ie: warmer water] and other areas we can't get at while trolling.

Not sure that will help ya, but hey, any day on the water is better than [fill in the blank] Good luck!

Terry,
Thanks for the run down, did you mark much for baitfish during your trolling?

Look for a white and black Alumacraft with a 90hp Honda tiller on Sunday. Not sure what part
of the lake I am going to hit yet. But I will be out there some place.

Good Luck!

Still debating between White Bear, or Forest for Saturday. Otherwise I was thinking about running up to Deer. I think I will then drop the boat off to be winterized. I have a couple Mag Dawg's that I bought from Dennis that need to see some fall water.

FnF [Steve],

We didn't mark much for baitfish. That's one of the reasons we were covering such a variety of depths, etc... About the only place we saw fish stacked up were in the longer channels, where the wind was blowing into them. When we were leaving, there were a lot of people showing up for the night time walleye channel bite... they said it was starting to heat up.

Temps ranged from 42 to 46 degrees. We fished 4 bays.

I'm running a Crestliner Canadian w/a 60hp Yammy tiller [gunmetal grey]...

If you see me, swing by and flip me off, cut me off, shoot a wake at me... something... Tonka just doesn't feel right this time of year [GRIN]...

Can't give any info about patterns on Tonka, but I've still been consistently moving fish on both outside and inside edges. Inside edges with sand near deep water on a sunny day. Unfortunately getting a lot of follows without strikes.

Yep, hoping to be back on WB Friday and Sat, or Sunday. Going out till she freezes over. Am anxious to hear latest WB lake temps.

WB Temps were 42 last weekend but I'm sure they've fallen from there. The temp at the ramp was 32 this morning.
