Posts: 2089 | Kudos to Lindy for bringing them back.Lots of great spinnerbaits out there, but the M/G's have a vibration all their own.One of my top 5 all time.Put it in their face and hold on!!!!!The more chewed up , the better they get. Steve

| Thanks for the compliment Jonesi. I use to own M&G, had to sell because of a divorce. I still have calluses from bending wire. Hated to sell but life can be like that. Had a lock on the best bucktail in the nation. Drove Geo Wahl (Eagletails) wild. Lots of big fish caught on them. Still in M.I.'s top ten big fish lures list.I think and they haven't been made since 1992. I have a pretty good selection for private use but not interested in selling any. Good luck to Lindy, I hope they can find the bucktail and maintain the quality. SV | |||

Posts: 103 Location: Land O' Lakes WI | We used some at a 3 day, 10 person outing in Vials County the first weekend of Oct. Weather sucked but we still managed 10 fish. I think 4 or 5 were caught on the M&G baits! It is good to have them back. Mark Gostisha

| The top bait is the regular Tandem Spin. 3/4 oz. custom Erie/dearie head - .051 spring stainless steel wire - two dressed 7/0 single hooks - #6 and #8 Colorado blades. From experience don't buy spinnerbaits for Muskies with 6/0 single hooks. Not enough bite for big fish. Second bait is a SunSet. 1 oz.banana head made with tin instead of lead for a total of a little over 1/2 oz. Same wire as above - 3 7/0 singles - two dressed - 2 #6 Colorados & Magnum Colorado. Sunsets were specifily designed for Lac Seul. Muskies were in the thickest slop and you had to run regular tandems to fast to stay above the weeds. Muskies were blowing up two to three feet behind the bait. SunSets with a bigger but lighter head, and double blades along with the Mag Colorado torqued up and could be run very slow but stay high. Muskies up to and including a 57 incher were caught on SunSets. The last bait is a Lunker Tandem. 1 1/2 oz. head (heaviest of the time) .063 spring stainless steel wire - three dressed 8/0s - #6 and fluted or Mag Colorado blades. Lunker Tandems were designed to compete with the bigger straight-shaft single hooked bucktails of the time. The Lunker Tandem was one of Doug Johnson's favorite baits. Amazingly I wasn't able to sell many baits in Wisconsin in the late eighties. Believe it or not the rap was that they pulled to hard. Times have indeed changed. CAN SOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO POST A PICTURE? It won't take a simple single picture. Edited by muskiemachinery 11/19/2004 7:40 AM | |||

Posts: 69 Location: Just above the thermoclime | Muskie Machinery - I'd chance a guess that the near zero strech superlines have contributed to the change in disposition towards the baits.

| Why? Don't see the correlation. | |||
