Posts: 1938 Location: Black Creek, WI | I just wonder how many giant fish get caught each season that we never hear about. Here's one I just found on another website.... but haven't seen any buzz from it. All I know is it was caught by Terry Blood from Mille Lacs lake and taped 55 inches. Awesome. Are there any more giant catches out there that we've missed??? jlong Attachments ---------------- ![]()

Posts: 244 Location: Mallard Island Lake Vermilion MN | Dude There are many, but a lot keep it low key and on the QT. Many never even leave the bag boat side. Many a surprise might pop up on our web page this winter, never know. ![]() A friend an fellow guide who got a 53" and a 52" has yet to post his BIG fish. Many local buds also done really good this season and really busted the 50" mark and them is BIG, BAD fish. Well, you seen and got into a few, so you know what I mean. Lots caught around the northland and up ta Canada. Many simply not talked about on-line for good reason. We have learned to give advise only when asked or in a life threatening situation or be torn to #*#*. LOL That is a BIG fish, monster head. Gezzzzz, Simply to cool. I would love to ride that one. Posts: 1245 Location: Madtown, WI | On another post someone mentioned that a 50 incher hasn't been caught yet on the madison chain. I know no one in our Muskies Inc. club have yet (ANd OH I pray I be the first!!!!). BUT, I do know of one OVER 50 on the madison chain that was caught by a guy that is VERY honest and has caught a ton of big fish. He just isn't into celebrating such things. There are a lot that just slide back into the water and stay only in the memories of the catcher. I think this happens A LOT in Northern WI were the lakes are so small people keep hush hush because we all know what pressure big fish brings. As for me...I like seeing everyones sucesses and of course I share all my stories...its preference.... Cory

Posts: 743 | Jlong, i seen that picture in 2002, 2003 now 2004. maybe he'll catch it/post it again in 2005. there are more big fish caught each year that are not Cyber Stars (pics of them posted on m1.com or MH or 101...) than are Cyber Stars. that's a fact. alot of these big fish are from places people dont' others to go, they dont want the extra traffic on thier spots the pics stay to themselves. i'd say for every one fish over 55" we see on the internet, 6 or 7 or 8, probably closer to 10 or 20 are released with or without a pic, and are not on the internet. (still talking fish over 55") some guys cant afford internet. come guys dont have digital cameraa or a scanner. mostly, they just don't want the attention i believe. "So, are they more gaints out there that we miss?" Well, if you are talking the internet community as "we", then yes, there are many many that are not posted. but if you are talkign as "we" as in musky anglers, the fish are being caught and released. what's the biggest threat to these big fish. PRESSURE. bottom line, pressure. the internet is SO so so so powerful. from lakes WI to streams in WV to NY or Ontario...guys keep it quite so they can go back there and catch fish so the pressure doesnt ruin the spots. fact of life, pressure will cripple a fishery. i goes on everywhere. As i think about it more, i'd say close to 20 fish over 55" are caught for every one posted on the net. tomcat

Posts: 2515 Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | when you do 90% of your angling on 2 lakes who's total acerage is about 1000, you try to keep things a little quiet.....I never ever post fish pics here, not saying I slay the whoppers, I do ok, and have a few pics of nice fish, but I had problems in the past with a fellow poster (not here) who tried to add me being a graphic artist and a pic of a nice fish into me cheating the picture, so I keep them to myself...altered pics of Lobi, the Feacal, bass, albino deer and hotties with gators?....well, thats another story. I know of alot of nice fish between 45-50 here in Wisconsin that will never be seen or heard of. My brother has nailed 2 over 47 this summer alone up north.

Posts: 259 Location: Alexandria, MN | We have no idea how many big fish are caught each year. In the big picture VERY FEW of the muskie fishermen are on this or other websites, posting about the fish they are catching. I know about a bunch of big fish that have not been posted here or anyplace else. Many of the lakes that I fish, are getting more and more pressure, without me spreading any pictures around. And if you post pictures without telling where, when and how -- you get drug through the mud. Everyone does this for their own reasons, so what the attention and MOST don't. Good Luck! Steve

Posts: 1996 Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | Boy Cory, You hit the nail on the head with that one. I know of many large fish over the last couple of years that were caught and never heard of. I would bet that on a certain Oneida county lake I fish a lot (now there's a tough one to figure ![]() Edited by nwild 10/19/2004 12:54 PM

Posts: 3518 Location: north central wisconsin | I have a friend who fishes in Oneida Co. and Vilas co. The dude cracks 2-4 over 50 per season in WI, and dozens of fish from 44-49. He only enters a few into Muskies Inc. He used to enter more of them, but people became suspicious, following him, etc. One well known guide(who I won't mention) followed Chuck around one time and watched him smoke two or three nice fish one afternoon, ending his pursuit. Now he only enters enough fish to win his division each year for his chapter, and the rest of them, he just tells/shows a few of us, so we can drool over the photos.

Posts: 376 Location: Lake Vermilion Tower, MN | There are a lot of anglers that simply don't need to prove to everyone that they catch big fish. The satisfaction is in the catching, not the braging. We all have our own reasons for what we do and for some, it's just fishing for the sake of fishing. In the 30 years that I have been chasing muskies, I doubt my camera has been used on more than 20 fish except for those my clients have caught. However, I remember everyone of them. ![]()

Posts: 146 Location: Wayzata, MN | I have two friends that are very good musky fishermen [both into their 50's now]... neither participate in on-line boards, or clubs... it's just 'their way' of going about it... Both have caught two 50+'s this year... 53" and a 55.5", their biggest respectively... I've seen the pic's... they release all of their muskies. Funny thing is, they rarely take a picture... they happened to bring people out that had a camera with them, so up/snap/down... if the pic turns out, it turns out. Too bad they aren't into participating in the boards, these guys are a wealth of knowledge.... I guess that's a round about way of saying, "yup, we don't hear about a LOT of fish that are caught".....
