Most of the lakes that I fish are about 1000 acres or so with an occasional lake of about 3000 acres. I'm thinking about getting a 16' (J series) Carolina Skiff for fishing these lakes. I am basically a troller, but do cast on occasion. Some of the lakes have a 9.9 limit on the motor, so that's the size I will be purchasing with the boat. Other lakes are electric-only and I will be outfitting the boat with a fairly powerful electric motor in the back (about 82 lbs. thrust) along with a foot-controlled motor in the front.

Looking for feedback on this type of boat. Thanks

Carolina Skiff builds a nice ride . they are well built; no idea as to cost. Take a look at the Tuffy Pike for a 9.9 powered boat. It's designed for exactly what you describe.
