Posts: 150 | I picked up a standard 400 Calcutta a while back and love it.. I was thinking about a TE and noticed they have the Jap version out. Anyone using one of the Conquest reels yet or know of someone who does? Thanks for your input. Randy

They are simply the BEST reel I have ever used in my 21 years of Muskie fishing. They are so smooth, quiet and powerful you can fish all day, with less pain. I have the two Conquest's and 5 TE's -- I have gotten rid of all my other reels. My 2 cents Steve

Posts: 743 | The only bad thing about the the TE Conquest is that if you need to get it repaired, you have to send it to Japan. you wont' get it back the next week. However, they dont seem to need that much maintenace. My partner had a few problems w/ his, but we both think it was because he was throwing magnum dawgs and HR (heavy baits) with it too much. since he started just using it for a all other baits besides the super heavies, the Conquest has been flawless. I am almost certain you can't even get a replacement handle for TE CONQUEST in the US...you have to order from Japan. they have a super fast bearing in them...the smoothest reel you could imagine throwing. i'm think i'm getting a Calcutta 700. not the TE, but the regular one for casting. outside the calcutta's TE's and TE Conquests, the Abu 7000's are next best performing reels i have used, so now i need to get a Calcutta 700 to toss. they have push button for casting. Fishin'Freak, do you use your 400 Conquest for big baits? if so, are they holding up good on those big baits? Randy, i just wish they made a 700 TE Conquest w/ a push button instead of lever...that would be the ultimate in big bait casting. tomcat

Posts: 259 Location: Alexandria, MN | I have used the Conquest with 8" Shakers and Mag Dawgs, but I tend to downsize a lot and go with some smaller baits and a finess approach on the pressured waters. I have not tossed a 10" shaker or the Wabull yet, so those heavier baits might be an issue. Iwill let you know. Steve
