Posts: 726 Location: Eau Claire, WI | Thanks guys nice to get a pat on the back and a very nice surprise. Cory you are the man. She ate a shallow invader off shallow rocks. Fishing out of Walsh's Bay Store Camp NW Angle. Caught her in a place that I had fished for the first time this past July. Although we saw nothing there that month, it just looked too good to stay away from despite advice from friends that "it looks good but ain't worth a hoot". So like a moth to the flame I went back last Saturday and twitch twitch bang off we go. My wife, Amber, was with me and netted the fish. Not one for expletives, when she saw this fish she kept saying "Holy S--t Holy S--t is it 50?" Not wanting to jinx it I kept saying "its 48 its 48!" After the third try we get the fish in the bag thrashing all the way. Now we're both trying to collect ourselves. I start to lift her out, the net tips towards the lake, the fish thrashes out of my grip and the next thing I know shes laying head out over 1/2 out of the hoop all she has to do is twitch and shes gone. I'm screaming "NO! NO! NO!" and grab the net and scoop her back in. Seemed like and eternity. Next attempt, out she comes, lay her on the stick and 51" on the nose. A few quick pics and she swam off strong. I screamed to the muskie gods a whole lot more then I had to sit down for a spell. I love it! Life is good. I think I almost broke Amber's back I was hitting so hard telling her nice job on the net. It was cold up there! High winds. Water temps were low 60's when we arrived and upper 50's when we left. It was an experience I'll never forget and to have my wife right there with me when it happened makes it the best catch ever. Posts: 419 Location: Appleton, WI | Awesome fish Jon!!!! Man, I'm really happy for ya, and it's a much deserved!!!!! Now let me ask you this. You didn't show your wife how to flip chicken did you? Ahhhhhh, kidding aside just ask my buddy Dano about flipping fish in the net after having me botch it. It looks like you married the right woman!!! Not only is she a good net person, but is willing to stay out in the cold to fish muskies!!! That's very impressive. Looking forward to seeing many more from you buddy! catch ya later, Krappie | ||
