Posts: 149 | Being from the West Bend area originally myself, I think a 'specialty shop' like they are trying to be would do much better selling baits from manufacturers that aren't already readily available in the West Bend area. There's a Gander 10 mins down the freeway in Germantown which stocks a full line of the Bucher and Maina brands among others. There's also a Fleet Farm in West Bend which stocks Mepps, Suick, some Bucher (topraiders, some bucktails, etc) for very reasonable prices so I'd cross all those off the list as well. They'll grow a larger following in the area by specializing in baits from manufacturers that aren't otherwise available in West Bend. Seeing that the closest musky waters to West Bend are about an hour away (Pewaukee & Okauchee to the south, Little Green to the north), I don't know how much live bait they would sell to musky anglers. This isn't a new idea to West Bend. The last 'specialty' bait and tackle shop that had musky tackle (I believe it was called Eagle Creek Outfitters or something along those lines) only lasted about 6 months. I hope this one caters more to what the people of the area want and can succeed. Looks like this partnership with MuskieFIRST is a good step in that direction. My list of manufacturers is: River Run Lures (Manta, Hammerhead, etc) A & L Bucktails (Intimidator, Intruder, Ripple Tail, etc) Salmo (Slider, Fatso, etc)

Posts: 600 Location: West Bend, WI | Agreed 100% with cpr. I'm from west bend , the shop is on the same block as my work.I would bet that most peeps that use this shop, for skies will be heading to random or elkhart.most throw hair on random and bulldawgs in elkhart. So I'd go with them 2 and some good glide baits for me

| go with something not found at every other shop in your area --- # 1 ac shiners-- the ultimate twitch bait # 2 Salmo's -- everything I try of theirs looks great # 3 here is my kicker -- specialize in un- painted lures with so many people painting their own lures it would be great to be able to go one place to get them. so carry blanks Manitoudan | |||

Posts: 149 | I disagree with CPR. A shop should carry some of the basics. Don't cross them off. No one wants to go to two shops. Just don't expect them to be the main draw for the shop. The one think that keeps me going back to Kolar here in Chicagoland is the customer service really.
