I'm looking at buying a Calcutta 300TE, I right now use Morrums, but have always been interested in the TE's. Do any of you guys use them? Or have used them? Would you give them your thumbs up or down and why? And would you say they are better than the Morrum? (I'm pretty attached to my Morrums)

Thanks guys,

Phil,
I've been using the 400TE for a couple years and so far they've been bulletproof. The only problem was this spring when after a month of 8-10 hr days on the water working the livin bejeezus out of a particular topwater bait, I had bent the handle slightly.Bent back, good as new.I love the big paddle knobs too.I used the Morrum of a buddy last week.Very nice reel but not even close to a TE.BUT,it's a buck and a 1/2 cheaper too.I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you ante up the change, you'll be very pleased with your decision. In a lot of cases, you get what you pay for. This is one of those cases.Good luck and start a fund now for the 2nd, 3rd etc.. Steve

Don't need a $350 reel to catch muskies but they sure are sweeeeet! And no, I'm not sponsored by them , just like the product.

love it

I didn't think I'd be that much better than the 400 but with the smaller size, it's really really hard to put down

never tried a morrum but never met an abu as smooth as a high-end shimano

Went today and picked one up, I'm leaving for the Chippewa Flowage tomorrow and the thing seems insanely smooth and solid just with messing with it without a lure on. Love my Morrums, but this thing just feels awsome, could be a change coming!! Steve, the fund is already started for the next one for sure..lol

Thanks guys.

I bought a 300 TE last year and it lasted a month. I brought it back to thorne Brothers and they gave me a 400 TE and it is an awsome reel. I have used it hard for one season and it is ready for some maintenance. Is it worth 350.00 ? I still have not made up my mind and bought another one but it is so smooth it is the only reel I use.
