Troops-

Fantastic reel for a lighter pulling baits - small to mid size hair, shallow/small cranks, small jerks and glides, topwaters and
jigs/creatures.
It has a higher gear ratio 5.3 - than the Calcutta 400 - 4.7 ,and a little smaller body and spool diameter. Fits smaller hands.
SMOOOOOOTH as melted butter.
A great addtion to my stable. I wanted a little faster and smaller reel for my smaller baits/presentations and it works great.
Now if it lasts as long as my 8 year old workhorse Calcutta 400, it will be fantastic.

Two reels to buy folks - Calcutta 400 for the big stuff and the Diawa/St Croix Avid ( rebadged ) for everything else.

I believe the CVZ has a 5.1 gear ratio. To me it seems a bit slow. I love the reel and the smoothness.
However I just dont have any confidence using it for speed presentations. It is just too slow. You have to
crank like crazy to get the bait moving. Im a pretty firm believer that speed is a trigger so I think I will just
use it for heavy pulling cranks, big spinnerbaits and topwaters.
