Time has come where I need a GPS. Looking for a handheld unit, under $250. Would like to mount on the boat console as well.
Lake Software is optional. Any recommendations out there????

I just picked up a lowrance h20 and a Navionics gold XL3 chip. I have not used it on the water yet but from just playing around with it it seems like an excellent little unit. I can't wait to use it at the end of the month on LOTW. I got the GPS for about $200 online and the Navionics chip was $170... its the XL3... the smaller areas are a little cheaper. The detail on the maps is awesome.

The H20 is now at retailers for 250.00. The intro price was a good one at 200.00 if you can still find it. So far its the best unit for the money that uses "Plug N Play" chips. The Gold chips work in it as well.
