As you may know, our buddy C.J. "Mauser" Cantley fulfilled a life-long dream last year fishing Lake of the Woods at the MuskieFirst Sabaskong Bay outing. He did good up there, too. Then, he broke his neck in an ATV accident over the winter and has been out of work since. He'd really like to go back to Sab Bay with us this year, we have a ride and boat space for him but he needs to raise funds for the lodge cost and deposit.

Mauser and I have raided our tackle boxes and have an assortment of un-bitten lures - several are unique - that we will auction off next week on the 'for sale' forum. He's coming up this weekend and we'll take photos of the baits, and he'll post different ones each day next week for bidding.

I hope this will be a fun event. Thanks to Steve Worrall for letting us do this! With the generosity of the MuskieFirst family we should be able to send Mauser back to Camp. Stay tuned, and thanks. m

Any chance of a head's up on what some of the lures are?

2rod, now that would spoil the surprise, eh? (I'm practicing my Canadian, take off!).
We'll try to post a list later this weekend, looks like 20 in all. m

Sorry, I'm told the magic Mikie Sledge will not be for sale, trade, and I think he's changed his will to have it buried with him, too. We discussed a touch up paint job since it is looking pretty tooth-worn, but why mess with success? Thanks John for your support, and I know things will go well for you, too. m

Hi Mikie/Mauser,
I had an idea that might also help. If someone can't go who has already paid their deposit, and can't find a replacement, we could have that deposit applied to Mauser's cost. That would help.

Check with Shep, looks like all my leaker buddies are no longer planning to go, so we should try to get Fisher Cabin for us. Otherwise I could move in with y'all.

Do we know if Steve Hulbert is going? I am bringing my strat and mini-amp, so we can plan to do some guitar playing again this year.

One month to go...

Mauser start packing!! Can you still get a couple cases of water from your old employer, even though you're on leave?

I am bringing along a lot of meat, cheese and salad (Atkins food), including about 6 pounds of pre-fried bacon and some pre-cooked chili. Will also pick up some steaks just over the border.

Later,
papa joe

Thanks for the bump, Beav! We photographed about 20 baits Thursday night and had Mal-Wart put the pics on a cd, CJ will be starting the thread today. Went to Leesville Friday and fished a long day, something big hit CJ's leader but left his lure alone! har har. I got my first Ohio muskie Saturday fishing with our MI chapter Pres. and Secretary in the rain. It was a 25 - or is that 52? My dislexia! Hey, it swims. We spent most of the day yesterday trying to plumb in my new hot water tank, everything was tight at 5 when we left for dinner, but a 1/2 inch compression fitting started leaking when I got home and it all had to come back out. Up till near midnight and still didn't get it tight, so I think a plumber is coming today. Anyway, my excuse for not posting a bait list like I promised. Sent that man to camp! m

Mikie,

Mauser should be receiving a package in the mail today or tomorrow. Have a great time up there!
