Have any of you guides ever taken out a celebrity? If so who and what did he or she catch?

Brad Lohaus (I still have a signed game ball from that era) from the Milwaukee Bucks a couple times while he played in Milwaukee( he caught a muskie both times, if I remember right), Jim Bagley from the Bagley lure company(we caught muskies, he gave me crankbaits, ALOT of crankbaits, quite a guy. He will be missed.)Bill Binkelman( he didn't fish the entire week, just watched me catch 'eyes on plastics), Mary Ann Martin (Roland's wife; a muskie and a few Bass), Linda England (she was with mary Ann), Dan Sura (walleyes, muskies, bass),and Beav. Beav was the coolest, and we caught muskies. Beav was a celeb when he was younger; ALOT younger. I've fished with many political figures over the years, they mostly caught heck from me.

I got to fish a few times with Bob Uecher out on Lake Michigan. He used to have his slip right next to my brother.
We were out about 10 miles one day when a bird came from out of nowhere and landed on one of the downrigger rods. Bob crumbled up a doughnut and had the bird eating out of his hand.
The bird flew up and landed on his bow lights, and he said..."Yup, you can tell a guy's got money when he has a live hood ornament."
My face hurt at the end of every trip.
He's hilarious without even trying.
Sworrall, me, a celebrity?
I'm blushing.

Small world there Stever! Met Linda England back nigh 20 yrs. ago on a lake outside of Ft. Campbell; she and another girl were decked out in barse clothing and nice boats, and had been fishing. We had just gotten back from Central Am. and took a couple days to unwind and were at the dock when they pulled up. Thought it was neat, as women fisher peeps were pretty scarce back then...

Sponger,
She's a class act, and hell on wheels with the bass. Cool that you met her there, I guided her during the original World Muskie Hunt first couple years in Minocqua.

Chum, you need to get out more. Bill Binkleman was the author of 'Nightcrawler Secrets', several other very popular pioneering books, and the founder of Fishing Facts magazine. Jim Bagely, well, lets see:

Jim Bagely died Saturday at 80.

James `Jim' Bagley brought ideas, salesmanship to world of fishing
By Christopher Sherman
Sentinel Staff Writer

February 18, 2004

Inventor, master salesman and fishing legend James "Jim" Bagley, founder of
Bagley Bait Co., never met a lure he couldn't improve.

Frequently stirred from sleep by an idea that just couldn't wait, Bagley was
also the rare individual who could make those ideas a reality time after
time.

"He had things going on in his mind all of the time," said his wife, Vera
Bagley.

Jim Bagley, a Winter Haven native, died Saturday. He was 80.

He worked as a meat cutter, tree surgeon and master electrician before
finding his calling in Winter Haven's lakes -- or rather a couple feet below
the surface, where hungry bass roamed.

What would become Bagley Bait Co. in 1954 and celebrate its 50th anniversary
this year started in a one-room concrete building with Bagley and his mother
making fishing lures.

Bagley introduced scores of varied lures from pork rinds (Black Magic Eel)
to the plastic purple worm -- the result of accidentally mixed colors -- to
the Bagley Bang-o-lure, a variation on a Finnish balsa wood lure Bagley read
about and then improved to mimic baitfish.

But designs only accounted for half Bagley's success. He crisscrossed the
country selling his lures or giving them away to get anglers hooked. Bagley
appeared to approach potential customers like the fish they preyed upon by
swooping down on them in a helicopter and dropping his lures into their
boats.

Bagley also used his helicopter to make what he liked to call the greatest
catch of his life -- his wife.

"Everybody loved him who ever met him," Vera Bagley said of her husband, who
flew 51 missions on bombers over Europe during World War II.

In addition to his wife, Bagley is survived by sons James Bagley Jr. of
Orlando and Dean Bagley of Winter Haven; daughters Kelly Willard of
Nashville, Tenn., Fonda Randall of Lakeland and Dawn Kilgore of Oviedo; a
sister, Juanita King of Winter Haven, and four grandchildren.

Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home Winter Haven is handling arrangements.

Brad is Brad. He's BIG! TALL!
Dan Sura is synonomous with In Fisherman TV, Magazine, and much more. He's also a great guy and a great stick.
Linda England is one of the top women bass anglers in the world. Nice lady, and could break your neck with a hook set.

Beav is one of the most versatile anglers I know, and was best man at my wedding last year. He tops the list, best angler, best conversation, and best net man, too.

great question.

2 celebs for me, both avid fly fishermen, met them both at Gander. Fly fished for Fall Salmon and trout in the Milwaukee area.

Actor Andy Garcia and Daryl Sturmer (guitarist for Genesis)

Both caught nice Rainbows and a few Chins, Andy G took a 28+" Brown to mount. he caught that on a Mepps #3.

Hey sworrall, didn't you guide one of the Hager twins from Hee Haw? I remember that you and SteveQ each had one in your boat on the Eagle River Chain in the late 80s and one of them caught a 36"er, but can't remember which. I'm betting it was the one with SteveQ, lol. - Gerard

I had former Secretery of the DNR George Meyer when the Governer's Opener was in Price County. We caught a few walleyes. Nice man! I was supposed to also have the Secretery of the Dept. of Corrections also, but he had a late night over at the casino and he was a no show.
