Subject: All TIME LOW.....

This is an ignorant nonsensical post but I must vent......while eating Velveeta Macaroni/Cheese Shells a little while ago it came to me.....forks are screwed up....I say this because before you can get the m/c to your mouth most of it rolls off the fork onto the plate, table or floor. I now realize the "standard fork" bites + should have 2 additional tines as well as be cupped somewhat as a table spoon to avoid spillage of above type foods.....anyone else have this problem or should I just keep quiet + bear this as a personal problem.....it's not often I reach out in times of crisis but now I need your help as this is becoming a major thing....are there other choices out there? NO....I refuse to use a spoon as I am a firm believer in cultural + proper ediquette(?) + must continue in tradition.....[:(] [:0] [:sun:]

Spongy,
We must clarify something. Was it the standard elbow mac or spirals? The spirals tend to stay on the fork a lot better, but the elbow macs tend to hold more cheese, especially in the center of them.

I think he's on the edge of inventing the a "Foon"!!!![]

Spongy One! I'd recommend: "The Evolution of Useful Things" by Henry Petroski. ISBN 0-679-74039-2 Great stuff like: "How the fork got it's tines" or "why sardine cans are flat" How about- "The evolution of the paper clip"? Keep this one away from your boss[:p]

Be happy to share w/ you- send me your current "postal address" ([email protected]), I promise no weird powders- just the book. Send it back after you've used your spongy power's on the knowledge. [:sun:] Ever wondered about the zipper???[]

LOL Jason....but this is NO laughing matter! Haven''t had a "Woodstock" in quite a few years.....must be the "residue".
Rob, as stated above, the pasta shape was declared to be of the shell variety....we do at times dine on the spiral form + it does hang well off the sides of the fork but I prefer the shell type as you can hold one up to your ear + hear the ocean; brings back many fond memories, at least until the cheese drains into the inner canal + deadens the rushing noise, hence the need to be careful not to squeeze the shell to avoid the above.
Punch/Judy....thanks but it must be a fork! A spork or foon is fine for casual dining but dinner here is a formal affair....at least until one of us unload a half plate of foodstuff at the other + then it becomes a mild form of domestic altercation! We then end up licking each other clean....when we were first married we lived in a very old stone house in between 2 mountains w/ 2 rotties + a yellow lab + we did everything together...including eating....now that we have a "real home" + are raising a miniature sponge we must adhere to the advice of Ms. Manners found in the Sunday paper. The "5 second rule" applies here....if it hits the floor + you can blow off the germs w/in 5 seconds, the food is safe to eat! The quest for the perfect fork continues..........[:sun:]

Daggone dude...just saw your post as I was putting up mine....you too must see what I''m going through! I''ll check the book out from the "Brary of Al" soon![:sun:]

Sponge, your doing it all wrong. ya see you know how you get the 1 pack of cheez and the noodles Well this is what your supposed to do, You have to buy 2 packages of the Mac&cheez you throw away the mac from 1 pack and put both packs of cheez with one pack of mac. And don't forget NO MILK!! this helps the mac to stick to the fork. Thats how its done.
Good hunting& eating, Jeff<><

Sponge dude I have a rule at my house and after some 10 years my wife is fianly getting it.

IF I DON'T NEED A KNIFE TO CUT IT I DON"T NEED A FORK.

I use a spoon for all the sloppy stuff and forks for meat and spagetti. Man mac and cheese with a fork !!!!! the stuff would get cold and stiff before you can finish your plate.

Reminds me when I was a teenager I had the record for eating a box of mac and cheese, I think it was under a minute.[:sun:]

Oh most porous of ones, retracting from a vowed tradition?
How could you? Lots and lots of trully great Mac & Cheese gobblers can eat the slippery goo with a fork. I pitch mine ia bowl & then hold the bowl up to my gaping pie hole and shovel it in with my fork. Heck chop sticks would even work in this way. Please don't go back on your vow. A spoon, yeeesh what a deal.[]

Thanks for the info. dudes....been awake since 2:03 a.m.....sometimes me eyes pop open + I just wake up.....weird. Anyway I've tried bending the fork but wife raises cane as they won't fit on top of each other when she stacks them in the drawer thing....I often do eat w/ my hands but I have to try to set an example for little sponge until he is 18! This problem may be mute as I believe that I have a potential solution for you! If your mouth has a high tolerance for sustained heat, make the macaroni and cheese in your mouth!! No more need to redesign the fork or the spoon! Watch out for neck cramps, holding your head back while boiling the noodles would seem to be a problem which still needs additional thought.
Just for your contemplation, did you ever read the warning on the box that Mac & Cheese comes in? It says in bold letters, "NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION"! This warning was sponsored by the International Society of Prisoner of War Camps, Torture Division!

Steve,

I think you've hit the nail on the head. Just fill your mouth and stick your head in the microwave. That little safety switch thingie can be bypassed! What a timesaver! No more dishes to wash!

Sponger,
I eat tremendous amounts of Mac and whatever, mostly Chicken soup base ( teaspoon added to bowl of hot noodles is GOOD!) and find that the pursuit of the noodles about the bowl/plate is the challenge!!

DO NOT shirk your duty as a Mac and Cheese User, and go to a spoon. DO NOT listen to the drivel expounded in the posts here attacking the very process which creates excellent hand/eye/brain/stomach/rear end Balance!!!! Of COURSE the noodles roll of an unbalanced fork, they are ROUND for a REASON, my porous friend!!!

DEVELOP your skill, PRACTICE, and have PATIENCE!!! NEVER GIVE UP!! NEVER GIVE UP!!!

Steve@GS, I just tried what you said. It worked ok but I do suggest wetting your hair down. Mine dried out and is cracking off my head. It also turned the whites of my eyes brown but that's ok because everybody thinks I am full of s&^t anyway.[:knockout:]

Mister sponge hehehe, please don't change in your ways and traditions. Even if the shells are sort of round you can still try to "stick em" with your fork. I implore you not to go back to the babies main utensil, the spoon. This item should only be used for the partaking of true liquid foodstuffs such as weiner water soup. Recipe to follow:
1st, purchase a large package min 20 of very inexpensive weiners (Tom Sawyer brand here). Boil 5 the first night & remember to save the water. Boil 5 the 2nd night in the same water again saving it in the fridge. After doing this for 4 straight nights and saving your weiner water, the 5th night all you have to do is add noodles to the saved water for weiner water soup. If you would like tomato weiner water soup try adding some ketchup. 5 dinners out of one package of hot dogs cheap by anyones standards. Make a gormet treat out of this with mac & cheese and a six pack.
Yum, Friday nights will never be the same.[:knockout:] [:knockout:] [:knockout:] [:knockout:]

what do you think bread is for,,,use a slice and bulldoze it onto the fork maintaining slight pressure lifting the two up to your face hole has a makeshift wedge,,or dump a bunch between two slices ,,I think they offer this at Mcdonalds a McMac

Daggone dude! You almost described a typical southern Christmas dinner only we add turnip green juice for color + a chicken leg for bulk......great to see the talent displayed on this board!!! Since life is WAY too short as Beav would say it is good to allow the mind to "wander off" as ToddM says it. How did Tom Sawyer get way up there? I thought he floated down the Mississippi! Anyway we really do need a recipe section on here someday......

*AND HOOKER....what about that wold rice soup recipe!!![:sun:]
