| today I awake and start my new job as Musky Nut Tackle Head of Production. I head off to Brainerd with the "Break On the Lake" trailer in tow and load all of the Nut stuff and head back to Cass.... I'll make this somewhat shorter... After going through the stuff I put together and spray painted up a "Squiglly" or Lure X in Kly's favorite Chee-to color.. I head down to the dock to try it out. 3rd cast.... Kaboom!! Fish on...... Now let me explain.... I'm on the dock. Rod in hand fish on the line. No net. No release tools. No nothing. and a BIG BIG fish that is in 2' of water and kind of upset. 7 runs later and me yelling for help has me still alone on the dock but now with what I thought might be my largest fish ever. Did I say I yelled "HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Noone around. S&*T no camera. No tape. Just me and the fish. Still thrashing and now hitting the side of the dock. It's not the world record but it could be my largest. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nobody.... By this time one hook is left in her and she is laying on her side. My mind is made up. I reach down and grab her. No problem. Grab the bait and give it a yank. She's free in my hand. I slowly lay her on the plastic of the dock and mark the length by the slashes/slots in the dock. Put her back in and smile as she slowly swims away in 2 ft of water. Nobody's gonna beleive this I think and smile as I know I could care less. Wasn't my fish. You got your 50 incher Kly. In fact she was 52" by the marks on the dock. Thanks for being with me short kid. I'll let you go now. Shady | |||

Posts: 1137 Location: Holly, MI | that was beautiful man. seriously. I have been there. Sometimes it is just you and the fish with the muskie god watching. (the old man and the sea) My regular fishing buddy went out alone to do a little trolling on Sunday and landed 5 fish. That is with planer board in the water and pretty good winds to mess with the boat while in neutral. His best of the day was a 47 incher that he tried to take a pic of while holding it. I can't wait to see the picture.

Posts: 32954 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | The biggest fish I ever boated (ever!) I caught during the closed years on Wabigoon by myself back in the end of Contac Bay. She and I had a nice visit, and she went back to the pond. No camera, no witness. Still good enough for me. Mr. Cady, I wager Kly was watching, and laughing his hinder off.

Posts: 1438 | LOTW trip davej grabs Kyles rod to try out his globe. On the dock, 1 cast, 1/2 way back and 2 ft of water. It wasn't 52" but you shoulda seen Kyle come running down the hill. "What the f*** dude!?" and we laughed for 20 mins. By the way, that's the day Shep quit muskie fishing. Anyway, I'm sure Kyle came running down the hill and was standing behind you Steve. I can almost hear it..."What the f*** dude!?" Way to go Cady. Scott You get my message? Give me a call. Edited by theedz155 6/30/2004 6:37 AM

Posts: 829 Location: Maple Grove, MN | The largest two fish I've ever caught were by myself and no pictures to show anyone. I don't claim them, but did name them and will only say they got off at boatside - with a little help of course. Then there are no "lets see the picture" type questions. I took out the hooks, measured them, and the fish went back just fine without ever being taken out of the water. That's all I care.
