| Hey guys just giving everyone a heads up on this.
There are two construction zones near Portage, WI. One northbound on I-39 towards Rhinelander the other westbound on I-90 towards Dells/Eau Claire. Currently the one going northbound has 2 open lanes both directions and shouldn't be a problem once you get to it.
The westbound one on I-90 on the other hand could turn out to be a nightmare for a lot of people. There is a lane jog and a 45 mph slowdown so traffic tends to back up somewhat under heavy traffic. With the July 4 weekend coming up that's gonna happen, I guarantee it. The thing I want everyone to be aware of is that on top of the regular holiday traffic they are holding the Great Circus Parade in Baraboo the same weekend. They are expecting 150k to 200k people in the City of Baraboo for that event alone. Traffic will back up and the delay could end up being hours. Especially if they are trying to exit on for the Baraboo exit which is in the zone, or if a crash happens. In addition, the I-90/I-39 split is only about 2 miles south of that westbound construction zone and you can start to see where the problem could occur. Even if you are going north on I-39 you may get stuck in traffic before you ever split off on I-39.
If it was me traveling either direction through there that weekend, I'd go out of my way to avoid it. Just hate to see someone get stuck in that stuff forever.
Good luck-
Scott
PS If you come through anyway, wave if ya see me. I'll be out there all weekend.

Location: The Sportsman, home, or out on the water | Great Info! As well as a great idea to share it! I can tell you that 47-45 through Antigo is also under consrtuction right now, making the slowest part of the trip even slower. Hope this helps someone! |

Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | The work in Antigo seems to be nearing completion, at least to the point where they can open all four lanes again. I will try to update you if it gets open by Thursday. If you want a bypass that goes around Antigo email me and I can route you around town and save you valuable time that could be used for extra casts. |

Location: oswego, il | Sure would be nice to have a 53 bypass around duluth. The detour there is through town, lots of stoplights. Not the pertiest town either. |
