Me and boats just don't get along. Just when I think I have everything set things start going down hill. I have a Minn-Kota Maxxum with the Universal sonar hooked to a X85. When I'am running the motor I lose the sonar . Tryed the X135 and it did the same thing. Got mad and ordered a stand alone transducer. If it wasn't for bad luck I would have no luck at all !!

Teck, I had the same problem with a boat that I used to have. Took the face plate off the bow instrument panel and found that the finder was wired right to the trolling motor pos and neg wires. Just for fun I rewired it to different leads and it worked fine after that.

Not sure if this is your problem or not but it might be worth a try.
