I'm looking for a new light bucktail rod. I was hoping for some suggestions. I like to throw Hirshs Ghosttails, Shumway Hot Tails and 500 series Buchertails. I have a St Croix Premier 7.2' 1/2 - 2 1/2 oz Lure that is too heavy for my lighter bucktails. I'm looking for opinions on what you use for these lighter bucktails. thanks

Try the 8 foot Bass Pro Shops Pete Maina Musky Rod in MH action, it works great for tossing bucktails, jigs, shallow dawgs, and other light baits a country mile!

If you buy one though, use electrical tape to secure the weighted end cap to the base of the handle because it will break off after hard use.

Try an 8'Avid. That's what I use for spinnerbaits, bucktails, small to medium twitchers and more.

How much $$$ do you want to spend? If you plan on spending a couple hundy, look into a custom rod.Built for YOU with the action and components YOU want.I did play with the new production Diamondbacks and they are a light and sweet rod. I would also suggest a longer rod.Steve and Beav are right on.8' or 8 1/2'.Good luck with your hunt. Steve
