What will you be throwing over what kind of structure in N Wisconsin this Saturday? I am starting with a Wabull and a Doc, with a Violent Strike and a Slammer Crank close at hand. I would throw a Weagle, but can't seem to find one...

Opening day? Those of us who've already gotten the boat wet in Indiana, S.WI, Kentucky, already are hoping for a nice bite on:

6" Hughes River Hughey
Original Voodoo Tail in Perch
Bomber Long A Mag in green flash
6" Hughes River Shaker in TN. Shad
Jackpot (its not a color, its a name: Crunch N' Munch)

And btw, Mr. Worrall.....lets figure it out quick on Saturday, cause Lambeau is talking some real nasty trash towards the Team of Sonic Death Monkey for our matchup on Sunday.

I will have a 6" grandma welded on one of my rods. I will be twitching over any new weed growth I can find. If the water warms a little (Pelican dropped 5 degrees in the last three days) I would really expect them to be chasing some bucktails. Smaller Mepps will be the baits of choice, also over new weed growth.

However, after catching a 42-43" last night in 15' of rock on a 1/8 ounce jig and a fathead, maybe I should just stick to the pattern that is working.

Ah, the age old question of what to throw - or what not to throw!!!! My starting lineup for opening morning on the Chippewa Flowage will be as follows.

1.) Slammer drop belly glider (small) not sure of color name, goldish with white belly
2.) 6 inch white belly perch Crane bait
3.) Custom Joes bucktail, squirrel with orange and brass french blades
4.) Bulldawg (spring) walleye

In the bullpen

1.) Sennett Pacemaker, black
2.) LeLure Surfstir, yellow belly perch

I will be throwing these over weeds/stumps in probably 4-8 feet of water.

Then again this plan can be scrapped at any given moment for any apparent or not apparent reason!!!!!

Just to be out on the water - if time flies when you get older the winters gotta be lasting at least 12 months!!!!

I will be throwing a Weagul till my arms fall off and a small bucktail or tube will be on rod #2, rod #3 will have some sort of twitch bait such as a baby depth raider. The surface temp on Crescent lake tonite was 57-58, really similar to last year at this time. Bring it on!!!!!!!!!

Trolling jointed wiley's, terminators and some home made ones as well. Perch, walleye amd frog relatives.

Can't be in N WI for my homeland musky opener, but I have fished in three states already this year (IL, IN, and S WI) and here are the baits I have worked most so far:

Custom Colored Phantom (Red/Silver)
Custom Colored Slammer Drop Belly Glider (Walleye)
Custom Colored DDD (Pearson Gold/Purple)
Grinder Spinnerbait Black/Grey
Mepps Musky Marabou Silver/White
Orange Weighted Reef Hawg
Perch Jointed Baby Depth Raider
Shallow Bull Dawg White/Silver
Bull Dawg (Walleye)
Shallow Invader (Black/Orange)

Just small, medium, and large followers so far, no takers!

Rigged for my trip to IN next weekend, I have the Red/Silver Phantom described above, a Walleye Big Game Twitch Bait, a Fire Tiger Bagley's DB06 Crankbait, and a Fire Tiger Johnson's Silver Minnow with 6" Glow Yellow Twister Trailer.

Good fishing to those of you in the Northwoods, I will be hitting The Mighty Chip the last week of June!

Steve

Rod #1 will have some sort of crank like a DDD or Ernie. Rod #2 will have a Slammer Drop Belly or wades wide glyde. #3 will have a Tiger Tube ready for a toss back. #4 (yes I know 4 rods) will have a TR Twitcher or a 10" Jake.

I will be fishing the first major drops which run around 10-15'.

Good luck to all!

I'll be using the same things that have been working great on the lakes in the UP and south of ten so far this season. Smaller gliders, most any surface lures(a lelure surf stir on deck as Corey stated though mine is a Jinkerson remake), spinnerbaits, and bobbies . Probably be tossing a 7.5" granny, and a crane bait too, and if open water is the destination, a 10 and 8" jakes.

One rod with a twitch bait (TR, Lil gramma, lil jake...) the other will have a small eddie or reef hawg and the third will have a lizard/jig head for a toss back. No doubt, several small tails will be thrown as well...muskycandy #1 on deck!!

Kly, now that the Thorne Bros rod is a 2 piece, you should put a tip on the bottom half. Then you have a nice sized rod that will fit you better. Ha Ha!!!

I can let you use the spiderman rod that you caught in the WMT if you want. That sucker chucks some spinnerbaits.

Joel,
good idea with the short stick. Might make a great sucker rod as well! Hey you think I can borrow that sweet gander mountain rod of yours over the weekend? That should back up the spidey combo perfectly to chuck the weagles, and make it a two piecer as well very quickly!lol

I'll be on Green Bay, prefishing for a tourney on SUnday. But I will have one bait in the prop wash, hoping for one of those slobs out there to eat it. Wonder if the secret bait will work at .9-1.1?

Early season as always a Rizzo whiz type I make, an A& L bucktail, maybe a Pacemaker, and when I need a change of pace a 3rd rod that I keep switching new lures on just to test them out. May be fishing alone this weekend and might try prospecting on lakes that I haven't fished for a few years. Wait, I'll just thorw a dart at my Vilas County map and go there. My son has fallen in lust and won't up be here until Sunday.

Threw a few from the dock last night on Plum (Sayner) just to see how they worked and tune them up. Had a real nice follow twice on a crappie pattern Shallow Invader.

Good luck to all and be safe. Only want good stories here next week.

Rather than what lures you're fishing, what about the type of spots to look for? We usually look for the newest, thickest weed "structures" in the St. Germain area lakes. If we've caught one during past openers, that's where we've got em. Small bucktails, spinnerbaits, or slow moving glide/surface baits.
