Location: Elkhart, IN | We went down to the cottage at Webster lake saturday night and my 7 year old son who has just recently started using baitcasters runs down to the lake while I'm unpacking the car. He has an Excaliber Pop'n'Image tied on and just being at Webster I have him set up with TufLine just in case. Well as I'm unloading the car he starts screaming DAAAAAD. I went running down there and low and behold he's hooked into a monster muskie with that little bass lure. I'm scrambling trying to get the boat uncovered to get the net and unfortunately the muskie got tangled into the weeds while I'm trying to get the net. He still had him for about a minute while tangled into the weeds and the fish came to the surface and splashed twice, I won't guess how big he was but I will say it was a big one. Unfortunately he managed to break the snap I have on for quick changes since he don't like to stick with any one lure very long. It was sure exciting for both of us though, he came within ten feet of getting his first muskie and is only 7. I'd guess he's got a heck of a head start on me since I just caught my first last year at 35 He just stood there shaking with the excitement after it was all over. |
