Please consider donating. More information below. Attention All Musky fishermen EVERYWHERE- Please help! Here is YOUR chance to make a difference. A group of anglers in Minnesota needs your help. The fact that this group is actually a Muskies Inc. chapter and is from MN but that should be a little importance. You can help them even if you are not a Muskies Inc. member. In fact if you are NOT a member they really need your help. Here is a chance to make a difference. This project can benefit Muskies everywhere! The Brainerd Chapter of Muskies Inc. along with representatives of the MN DNR has partnered up to produce a informational video to promote Muskies to the general public and local Lake associations. Pro Walleye Angler Ted Takasaki will narrate this video to further the impact that all species of fish co-exist with Muskies. Unfortunately after appealing to MI chapters and receiving funds from many of they are still short funds to produce this video. They are considering doing a scaled down version. By clicking the "Make a donation" button you can participate in this project directly and make sure it is done top notch! Here are comments from the Brainerd lakes chapter rep Tim Schulke: "The Brainerd Lakes Chapter of Muskies Inc. #24 is currently working with local DNR representatives to create a video that will enhance education and partnering efforts with local Lake Associations and the general public. The focus of the video will be on netting and surveying results on an area lake where walleye, panfish, etc. are thriving and Muskie have been introduced. DNR management tactics of the Muskie, walleye, and monitoring of the other species have maintained a successful balance. We believe this is vital information in order to promote expansion of the resource into new bodies of water. The BLC has currently contracted with a local firm to film the survey (in progress) on the water. We will also provide personnel to the DNR and assist with the actual net pulling. Our intent is to create a “fully produced” video that all of the MI chapters, DNR, and other entities may benefit from that is truly a case study from a “stocked lake”. This endeavor is not cheap, but is one the DNR believes will be a successful tool. Our chapter has committed to the filming and volunteers and are looking to other chapter’s to help with the producing, and reproduction." We have received (unofficially) but pretty solid commitments for $3000. This will barely get us a low budget production. $6000 will get us a production we feel will have a greater impact to the general public. Keep in mind, this does not budget reproduction. As you can see we have a little ground to cover. To answer some questions directly; In discussions with the DNR, we believe this will be a great tool to educate the general public (specifically targeting Lake Associations) on the value of managing the resource. Seeing multiple 28"+ walleyes in the same net as muskies has a nice ring to it, not to mention crappie, sunfish, northern, bass, etc. And yes, we hope to address the myth of eating machines. We are exploring every avenue for donations, discounts, etc. Nothing (we)know of is being left un-tapped. We have at least the donated value ($) already invested in time, and we have not started the production side. We intend to see this through and make a success. This video is intended for Informational purposes only, and will not be for sale. We may end up asking for a simple donation in the future to help cover costs of reproduction....but first let's make it happen. Again $, we have $3000 raised, need another $3000 to "do it right". When? Now would best describe the deadline. We want to move forward, but we need the budget confirmed. Actual cash in hand, can come within a month or two, but the commitment has to be firm. Hopefully I got it all covered!
