I've got jake that came with a thin gauge, and another with a thicker gauge. Does anyone know the company and model number of the thicker gauge hook?

Thanks,
sworrall

The jake I have with heavy hooks has Mustad hooks, not sure if they are 2X or not, but look to be. I am not sure if this was a bait I bought used or new, so someone else may have cjanged the hooks.

The short hooks used on 6" Jakes are VMC 9651BZ in a size 1. Im not sure if this is still the hook used, but I bought two boxes several years ago to replace Jake hooks with. I got the model straight from mania tackle. These short hooks are also nice to replace the middle hook on crankbaits that have hooks that tangle. This is a Xstrong hook model.

The 6" jake is really one of my top three lures right now(till about 62 degrees or so). I'm not quite sure why they put three small hooks on the lure, as it is quite counterproductive in many applications, especially where big fish are concerned. I switch to two 3X eagle claw 774m or vmc round bends. One on the front one on the back. It is then a hooking machine, that a big fish can get no leverage on.
