| Wondering if the coating on it comes off like power pro? I want a drier line that is smoother than power pro and does not leave a residue of crap all over the reel. What do you recommend?

| Spiderwire Stealth is the answer to your problems. XP throws more water than Power Pro. It is plenty durable but will get you wet. |

Location: oswego, il | Tuff line xp seems to be no different to me than tuff line plus except it's green. I tried the stealth for one outing, took it off. It brought in alot of water too and had backlash problems with it. I tried the stren superbriad last weekend. it's by far the driest line I have used. I think all my reels will get spooled with it by fall. |

Location: Oconto Falls, WI | The XP doesn't hold as much water as the Tuffline Plus, but still more than Power Pro. The green color does fade a bit, but you don't get the "residue" you speak of tha Power Pro gives you the first few times using it. |

Location: Black Creek, WI | I always thought the smaller diameter of standard 50# TUF held less water, however I was forced to steal a buddies reel loaded with freshly spooled Power Pro to keep my eyelets from freezing shut on a trip last November. Humbled indeed. However, that is the only circumstance that I can see a need for the greasy coating on the new super braids.
Are there any other benefits to having a "coating" on your line that I'm missing? |

| power pro's website says it's to keep mold and rot out of the line.
i imagine it has something to do with the fact that these lines are intended to stay on your reel for much longer - less need to respool often. so they may be susceptible to rot over time. |

Location: Racine, Wi | I think the coating is also so the line does not tear up your guides like when the super braids started coming out.
I personally would stick with PP Kly. I have had zero problems with it, and the color fading doesn't seem to effect the performance.

| Yeah that is what I am thinking, just stick with the power pro, clean the crap out of the fresh spool and I will be fine after that. The slicker coatings help with casting distance(I am a big fan of bomb casts), noise of the line when casting, and packing of the line on the reel. Power pro seems to have and does the job fine, maybe just stick with it since I already went through this process a few years ago of trying different braids.

I haven't had a problem with alot of water holding, and fished till ice up(though the reels I used late in fall had fresh spools and the coating was still on the line). It is also a bit cheaper than power pro. i also like it better than the tuff plus, as it is a bit bulkier in similar strengths. I just with it came in white!</p> |

Location: Davenport, IA | I like XP and have 80 on all but 1 of my reels. It is definetly not the same as tuff plus. I had 100 lb tuff plus break over and over again but XP is tough. I have the same line I had on all last year and its just as strong (although the color is very different)
I just started using stealth and have 100 lb on one reel and really like it so far. |
