Just how big of a fish can take a full grown goose? There was a goose with a broken wing trying to get out of the way of the boat, it layed its head down flat on the water and it just dissappeared like a big bobber! We waited around in the area for at least 10 min and it never came back up. What do you think?

Don't know about geese, but saw a Muskie(assuming) take a full grown Loon on Bone Lake in Wi. in 1984. It was a battle however. The Loon was taken from below and got it's wings spread out on the water. Surfed around on the surface and stayed on top thru numerous head shakes. (Kinda looked like the girl in the opening of the first Jaws). The Loon's mate came running over on the surface and stopped near the battle and then went airborne as if to say 'Let's get outa here'. The bitten loon tried to follow and as soon as it lifted it wings off the water it disappeared under. We also watched for a while and it didn't come back up. 5 hours later we came back thru that bay and the loon's mate was still there diving and screaming. Real humbling experience.

On two seperate occasions I saw a musky go after a goose the first time and on a different lake a loon the next summer in northern Wisconsin. Both fish missed and the birds escaped. I did however in Ontario see a musky get a seagull, which is no small bird either. Heard the big commotion, saw the seagull go under, and never came back up.

As for how big of a fish? Hard to say. I bet a mid 40" class musky wouldn't have a problem bringing down a full grown goose, loon, duck, seagull, etc.

Many years ago I saw a Gull get taken off a rock on Bone Lake. The bird started to fly off, and after some really nutso splashing, simply was gone.

How big? Apparently larger than 47".

My next door neighbor has a 47" Northern replica mounted in his living room he found floating belly-up...fullgrown drake canvasback stuck in it's throat.

Maybe I'll get a dog training bag that looks like a duck and put a hook harness on it! There are several 40"+ muskies in this area,at least one high 40s and one that's regularlly seen in the area maybe in the 55" range. I think I need to go shopping for some bigger baits!

i HEARD it's 60" (the one in the LdF casino) can anyone confirm/deny this?
also heard that the fish mounted in S.A.Loons in Minocqua/Woodruff is the same story and close to the same size. found dead on a duck. and from the same lake.

those HUGE fish you see sunning in the shallows that ignore everything you throw at them? yep. they're busy digesting ducks!

lol. stupid fish.
