I just bought one of these today for only $80. Anyone else have one? I can't wait to try it out.

What is the thing? Never have heard of it...too much hunting, not enough fishing...

S Worral, it seems to me a lot like a humminbird 100sx but $20 cheaper. It doesnt' have any great features other than you can buy a temperature probe. The picture on it isn't too bad, and it should do me better than nothing. Saw that they have it in the newest walmart advertisement too. The people at gander mountain told me they had just got it in, it wasn't there a week before. It isn't exactly portable but you can take the lcd off real easily. (good for me because I leave my boat docked usually) It is far from the best fishfinder, but its the cheapest one I've ever seen.

What is degree of the cone angle for the transducer? Lowrance, at 20 degrees, covers 1/3 of the total depth at the bottom, for comparison. I tested a Bottom Line Tournamnet model tha retails for $85. It was a verynice unit, but broke down(all three of them) after only a few hours.

Degree of the cone angle of the transducer? What does that mean?

The cone angle determines the size of the cone of water covered by the signal, top to bottom. The larger the number,as in 20 degrees, the larger the area covered. Most of the inexpensive sonars have a 16 or even smaller cone angle, limiting the amount of coverage. Matters little to me on the bow, as that is my boat control sonar, but important on the console.

That's what i figured it meant. Anyway, i checked the package and it says 24 degrees for sonar coverage.

I have used it a couple of times now and it works great. It shows fish and structure really good. It helped me find a 44"er One problem it does have is when it shows fish its sopposed to show how deep the individual fish are and it says stuff like 131 when i'm 10 feet deep, so it really doesn't show how deep they are, although it shows how deep the water is fine. Also when i'm trolling once in awhile it will say its like 230 feet deep for a second, although it doens't bother me much. The model I have is the piranha 1, but you can get the piranha 2 that has water temp, or buy the probe seperate.
