I can't wait to get out on the water again! This is about the time when I take out my tackle and sharpen the hooks, get things ready for the season. I was just wandering what you other guys do to pass the time until we can say those beautiful words again "FISH ON".

The beauty of living in Wisconsin is that there's fishing 24-7, 7-365. There's always something happening here, so there's no reason not to fish.

When I dont fish, it's usually because I'm working.

I like to sit around and make someones life miserable. Preferrably the person that is preventing me from going fishing. That way it doesn't happen often.

I think about musky fishing because I usually don't have the chance to do it much!

Mostly, I do "snake shows" for schools, Scouts, parks, and museums. (I generally have about forty-some reptiles of two dozen species in my home collection.)

I date (waste of time and money), I work (lots of time, not much money), I shoot pool (time well spent, money thrown down the drain), and I take care of the board (no comment). I spend enough time working on the board that I really don't obsess about fishing that much anymore....I live it all day long already! It's like I told Laura M on the phone yesterday, "I read EVERY SINGLE POST on MuskieFIRST...so that must make me the most knowledgeable muskie fisherman around who doesnt catch that many fish!".

Try to figure how to fish for somthing in season. Don't laugh but the other day (nothing else local was open season) I went sucker fishing. It was actually a blast. The sucker run on a local river is so heavy you can catch a fish every 2nd or 3rd cast. Drifting a small treble with yarn with my steelhead rig. They are 18 inches to 2 footers and fight pretty good, especially with a fast river current in their favor. I had two incidental walleye landed but no steelhead. My arm was getting sore after a couple of hours of constant action. I could pass it off as getting in shape for long days of Muskie casting couldn't I?

The hooks are all long since honed, reels cleaned lubed and re-lined, tackle box re-arranged way too many times, old articles and posts on here re-read, etc. Is it ski season yet?

By the way..anyone get the new Rollies catalog yet? Where is mine? Pastikas got theirs out in the mail quick.

If I'm not fishing, I'm usually working. Not the type that can sit still very long without going nuts. Wife hates it, but she's used to it by now. Can't hardly handle fishing for baitfish through the ice, so in the winter, I go chase deer for a while, and dream about fishing, and think about what I'm going to try differently next season.

Wisconsin has some catch and release trout fishing right now. It's great to get thye flyrod out and catch and release some beautiful fish on flies you have tied. A couple of more weeks and the boat arrives and then crappies, then bass in Wisconsin, then walleyes, and then....

I usually "invest" during the winter; a couple ski masks, some cotton gloves, then scout out some 7-11s. Other times I just sit around eating grits, fried chicken, then wander out on the porch and play the spoons until I get sleepy...

Seben Elebben and a Ski Mask? Nope. Not me, those folks are armed to the teeth.

I fish big crappies and bluegills with ultra light tackle. Alot. I find that relaxing, and I like to eat the buggers. Yummy. Probably really yummy with grits. I am going to Mexico now. There I WILL drink beer. I will sit in the surf, looking the tourist fool. I will sunburn my bald spot. I will wear shorts and blind half the Mayan population.I will buy silver jewlery we will never use, just to barter with the locals. And, no phones. Not a one. None. Nada, Zilch.

I think about fishing all the time, or something to do with fishing. I make Efrogs, and other baits. Isn't it funny that it is hard to talk to any one that don't fish? My life all ways comes back to musky fishing, or any kind of fishing. I have went sucker fishing. how about fly fishing for chubs. I will eat drink sleep fishing. I MAY BE SICK!!

Totally tear apart reels for cleaning and relubrication, sharpen every single hook in the boat box (then paint all bare metal w/ red perm marker), buy baits/reels/rods, upgrade boat/trailer systems as needed, respool reels that need it, make leaders, review lake maps, etc.

Fill e-net orders for custom leadres.

Also fish for local species as seasnon allows; ice season was great, lately on the river wasting a lot of time NOT catching steelehad.

Review R& H catelog every night in bed.

Love on my wife and kids, play music at church twice a week (one of which is the youth band my son plays in...a dream come true!), rebuild the reels, modify the boat (about done with that), and work (that's not so fun!)
did I mention "check out Muskyfirst" every day?......
