Posts: 100 Location: Tulsa, OK | About a week out from heading up to Eagle. Wondering how others recent trips have gone. Anything in particular working or not working? Weeds healthy this year? Staying at NSL for reference.

Posts: 224 Location: Downers Grove, IL | I only heard from friends who were up at my buddy's cabin on the north shore near NSL last week for 10 days through Friday, and fishing was very tough. However, they only fished early mornings and some afternoons. No evenings, which of course can be the best time of the day. They said there were a lot of boats out on all of the well known spots, around the big water and south, which I'm sure has an effect. Weeds were what they have been for the last few years, but not close to what they were a decade + ago. The fish have to eat some time and with summer winding down and kids headed back to school, hopefully you'll see less pressure and better action. Good luck!

Posts: 100 Location: Tulsa, OK | Thanks for the info Fishhateme, I have been going to Eagle for a long time, so I know how tough it can be. Last 3-4 years have been super tough for me. I always like to see how others trips went just to give me a starting strategy based on the feedback. Figure one of these years I will hit the right week....lol

Posts: 174 Location: Alexandria, MN | Just got back from a week at Temple Bay. Overall, fishing was tough, but we got a few. 3 boats, 7 anglers... 11 muskies boated total with several more hooked and lost or near misses at boatside. Biggest were a 47" pure and a beautiful 47" tiger. Had several fish follow with mouths open right on the bait but wouldn't quite chomp. The first 3 days we barely saw any fish, but then a couple warm days followed by a weather change seemed to get them moving. Saw a few fish in the weeds, but rocks were generally better. Water temps ranged from 68-71. Fished walleyes a bit to get dinner. They were cooperative and tasty.

Posts: 4 | Thanks for sharing. Good to hear you guys got some action. A 47" tiger is a special fish. What baits/presentations were working for you? My group is heading to Eagle 9/12 to Eagle Lake Island Lodge, close to Temple Bay.

Posts: 174 Location: Alexandria, MN | Most fish were caught on blades - small to mid sized. Not many in our group throw double 10s anymore. Color didn't really seem to make much of a difference, though Gold blades seemed to get as much attention as anything. Most fish hit figure 8, though we had a couple hit mid retrieve.
