Subject: Treble hooks





Location: PA Angler
Do I need all 3 hooks on the lures. Can I remove any. Boy they are deadly catching my car. The net and the best one was when I caught a Muskie and the hook was attached to the net, my arm shirt and pant leg. Boy was I stuck haha.

i think you can remove the back hook on big Minnow baits. Thats the one that has a tendency to swin up into fishes eyes. You may want to up size the two hooks you are leaving on depending on spacing because you don't want hooks to tangle either

I agree that removing the rear hook on a big crankbait or minnow bait isn't a bad idea at all. I've also done it with Suicks without losing any hook-ups. Better for the fish and the angler...I could see it costing a fish or two at some point but no big deal in the grand scheme.
