Posts: 30 | Looking at Tamarack Island Lodge for late August this year. Never been in the area, but have instead fished further north and east parts of Sabaskong Bay around Hay Island, Stevens, Stony, etc. What’s the fishing like there? Similar structure? Saw a Jim Saric YouTube on it. Looked pretty tasty. Any comments on the lodge? The rental boats look to be A+. Any advice or tips would be appreciated. Hope the border’s open!!!!! Thanks! Kurt

Posts: 716 | It's a really nicely run camp. Food is top shelf if you go that route, tons of quality spots without running too far. Cabins are nice and they have done a nice job of upgrading things since they bought it Five or so years ago, nice people.

Posts: 30 | Thanks for the help. My main concern is finding spots without going out on the big waters east and south. Is Basil Bay good?

Posts: 113 | Absolutely love the place and it sits in an ideal location. I agree that you have plenty of options no matter what the wind does. Todd and his family are top notch and will do everything they can to make sure you have a successful trip. The rental boats are the best around IMO. They have been updating the camp every year since they purchased it and have really done some nice work. I can’t wait to get back there someday.

Posts: 1901 Location: MN | Tamarack is my home away from home. Last year my two trips in a shortened season were my 25th and 26th to LOTW, with all but 8 or 9 trips in the early years being at Tamarack. Can’t say enough good things about the camp, the people and the access to good fishing. Todd, Kim, Paul, Cid and Jordan are like family. You need to go at least once and see for yourself.

Posts: 183 | I'm also considering a trip in August next year. Planning on at least 50% of my time on walleyes. I don't see much water more than 20' deep in the immediate area. Do you need to travel far to find deeper water for walleyes in August? This year in august we found them mostly in the 25-30' range in miles bay. Edit: also may be pushed into middle of September so any info then would be helpful as well. Edited by Vilas15 11/20/2024 4:16 PM
