Anyone have much success casting cranks over basins with panfish?
I have noticed the walleye and bass guys catching fish on smaller cranks this part of the season, is there any good cranks to cast that will get 8-10’ deep specifically geared towards casting more than trolling. I have a good selection of cranks in my arsenal for trolling already.

Take any Grandma or Jake and drill a hole in the bottom. Fill it with water and plug it with epoxy. Now you have a countdown crank.

Many good cranks that get 8-10’ on a cast! Many guys like the dbl, or triple D’’s, as they tend to hang in the Zone. Straight  Depth raiders floating or countdown’s , or 7” deep slammers easily get 8-10’ on a cast.

We all think of casting deep around schools of Cisco's but not all Lakes have Cisco's, all kinds of stuff suspend out in deep water and there are all kinds of lures Depth Raiders, Ernie, Jake, Grandma, Triple D's, Slammers, Rizzo Diver and the list go on and on. Active fish will be in the top 15 feet of water on so. If fishing a count down be careful not to fish below the fish. (they are looking up.)

Llungen 22 long baits for durability and catch rates over depth raiders. Recent depth raiders have been destroyed by one or two fish. My last two were bit in half by 36” fish. JBO gets no more of my money

Or just use a Depth Raider and soon enough it will fill with water and you will get the same effect.

Might consider an 8" Believer. With two line ties, you can vary depth of retrieve, based on where you connect.

I have many of the old 1989-1999 Depth Raiders and they are great. And the new ones talk about duds forget it.
I did get my hands on a pre owned but like new Plum Stright model. It had the old brownish Bucher split rings on it, so I took it down to a pond by my house and it ran very true. My biggest muskie was caught on the first straight model Raider I owned, maybe the next big girl will be caught on the Plum.

Yes! And if I could only have one crank, situation as you are describing, it would be a DDD , but more likely than I’d be throwing rubber
