Scott,

Do you ever get a chance to get down to Kinkaid or Shelbyville? If you do how are these lakes in early April? Are they fishable? Let me rephrase that.. Are they worth fishing in Early April?

Steve,

First of all I just wanted to say great website at teamesox.com. Keep up the great work!

I get down to Kinkaid but I have never been to Shelbyville. I have only been down to Kinkaid a handfull of times. Honestly, I have had better success in the Fall on Kinkaid than in the Spring. The spring time can be tough fishing. The key is to locate the schools of shad and fish those areas like crazy. The 'hollers' will be warming up quickly at that time of the year. If the shad are shallow, then cast the banks and weed flats. If the shad are out, I would suggest trolling Jakes and Ernies. Be sure to bring with a lure retriever though. Standing timber in 40 feet of water will suck up your favorite baits.

I have a lot of friends that fish both and I would say either one is well worth fishing in the Spring time (early April). Kinkaid is a pretty neat body of water. It has everything that you could possibly imagine in lake to fish. I would say your best bet would be to talk to the Master - Chad Cain. Chad is a great guy and knows Kinkaid like nobody else. He can also give you some insight on Shelbyville.

I am sure there are others who come to this board that can help me out.

Hope this helps.

Best of luck!
