Don't know if anyone lives out in the NorthEast, but a buddy just got a 24' center console and we're trying outfit it with rods and reels. Probably will do some inshore/nearshore striper/blues/fluke fishing as well as some trolling, downrigging, etc. I know my muskie rod/reels pretty well, but I guess what I'm wondering is will CVZ's, Calcutta's, etc. be fine as permanent saltwater reels?

And I'll probably be looking for at least one or two, larger reels with line counters in case we would go offshore....so I'm looking for suggestions on both rods and reels for varying degrees of saltwater fishing in the northeast. Looking for about 6 rod/reel combos total.

Thanks,

Josh
