Got plenty of other style top waters, don't really have a bonafide flaptail.

Wick, Wirth or Ry Lure all 3 makers are awesome, but difficult to get and can be $$$ pricey

Well for what it's worth I'm happy with my Chaos Tackle.
My Smitty Classic sees a little use, it's very subtle, too subtle maybe. But not having grapples let's u run over weed beds better.

Can’t comment on many brands other than Lee’s flaptails. Really like the way those run. Like the other comment indicates, the nice ones do seem to be pricey.

I have a old Dick Moore's and a 5" & 7" Smity and newer Smity with hook spreaders. On the Smitty's the new ones have a medal ring on the back as a noise maker I take it off I can get the tail to do more without the ring. I run mine nice and slow so the tail does a little back and forth wobble like a spoon. (with the metal ring I can't get it to wobble)
The large sized Lee's is on my wish list. On slow days these things can bring up fish when nothing else is working.

The big bombsquad is the only full sized flap that I’ve put time into and had some great luck with it, built like a tank too. I do have one of the small lee lures metal series ones and have moved a bunch I fish in bad conditions on it but haven’t gotten anything to commit. I don’t spend much time throwing baits that size but I know bombsquad has a small one that I’m sure would run great too.
