Posts: 27 | Just wanted to share a new personal best musky I caught over the weekend in Minnesota on a smaller body of water. It is my first musky over 50 inches, and I have been fishing muskies for about 15 years now. This fish was caught on a double 9 bucktail and LUNCHED the bucktail in the figure 8! I am considering having a replica mount done, as this fish has a lot of personal meaning for me. Here is a URL to video of the catch if you would like to check it out: https://youtu.be/s1wRn4aaamI Taylor Attachments ---------------- ![]()

Posts: 27 | Thank you! Much appreciated. It has been a grind to get that first 50+ but can't wait to get back on the water and keep at it!

Posts: 1144 Location: Minnesota. | Lovely fish Taylor. I thought it very informative that she didn't follow in, nose close to your bucktail as it seemed quite a bit off to the right on your "8"... good on you for spotting her!!! Not sure I would have! Lots of lessons here for me as I tend to lift up far too quickly. Thanks. Ya done great man!!!!

Yes, after watching the video back several times, I'm not convinced the fish was following my bait in on that particular cast. It almost seemed like it was hanging out next to the boat and as I went into the 8, I just happened to bring the bait past it. I'm honestly not too sure! It also could have been following the bait back to the boat and just hung down in the water column until it got closer to the boat. The water on this lake is pretty dark, and I have had fish come flying in on the 8 out of seemingly nowhere many times in the past. Those experiences have helped me keep my bait in the water as long as possible. Taylor
