Posts: 485 Location: On my favorite lake! | Terrible news! Unfortunately, magazines are dying and have been for a long time. Increasing costs probably did not help them. Webpages , social media and YouTube channels are taking over for news and info. I know Gregg and Tony did the best they could to keep it going. Edited by Lightning 7/1/2022 10:58 AM

At least they are doing their best to do what they can for their subscribers. Newsweek just stopped publishing and kept our subscription money. Sports Illustrated greatly reduced their issues and the size of the remaining ones. No refund, no apology there either. I subscribe to four newspapers, only one of which is printed. That is the local Rhinelander paper and it makes good campfire starter and fish guts wrapper.

Posts: 1313 Location: E. Tenn | I watched the announcement, and am totally OK with Tony and Gregg's decision to 86 the magazine.. If they can present the information in a more timely i.e. relevant manner on the app, it's a-win win... ... geez...you can't beat the price..and I for one, will not be using my phone whilst seated on the porcelain throne.. Posts: 1537 Location: Brighton CO. | Another blast from the past! It's 1988 just bought a condo in So. California working for a aerospace company six days a week and on Saturday we would work a 6A.M. to noon shift get off work rush home rewind the VCR and " A world of push and shove. A place reach and grab, But world becomes little nicer place here away from the crowd. Close to the real thing, For over 60 million Americans fishing means the challenge of nature and the opportunity to get back to touch with the feeling that motivates you" Then the theme music ......... In-Fisherman TV .

I wonder how long the Musky Shop will keep publishing their catalog. That has to be expensive to produce and ship. I am sure they get promotional help from vendors but still lot of cost there.

Posts: 20248 Location: oswego, il | I would be willing to bet the average age of the print subscriber mirrors the average age of the M.I. member. It's not like any of us didn't see this coming. Going digital is the only way to keep it going. Their new app will be the future. The younger generation needs this content on their phone.

Posts: 1373 | chuckski - 7/4/2022 9:54 AM I sold my home close to twenty years ago and moved back in with my parents when they started to show there age and a lot of In-Fisherman, Fishing Facts, Wisconsin Sportsmen, Woods & Waters, got recycled. I anticipate doing the same thing. My sister, brother in-law, and niece, already live close to the folks, but are in town, and want to get out of town. We're looking at getting an acreage together, as I will need to be close before long, and want to get out of the city. I'll be unloading a ton of In-Fisherman, the entire run of Walleye Insider, over a decade of Fur-Fish and Game from the 80's, and over 40 years of Amateur Wrestling News. I know it's wasteful and expensive to print stuff on paper now, but I really enjoy reading from paper. I spend most of my work day at a computer, and can't stand spending extended time on a screen, when away from work.

Posts: 402 Location: WI | Call me dinosaur but I have no interest in a digital subscription. If I had any idea this was going to happen, I wouldn't have renewed for 2 more years. I feel I'm owed a refund for the year and a half of magazines that I'm not going to receive.

I feel I'm owed a refund for the year and a half of magazines that I'm not going to receive. My guess is that something in their subscription gives them an out, just like my Newsweek and Sports Illustrated subscriptions. At least you have the option of getting online version. Not the case with Newsweek and SI greatly reduced the number of issues with no recourse for subscribers.

Posts: 1537 Location: Brighton CO. | I know Steve Heiting Retired this spring and it looks like the sticker on my last magazine (June/July) has a 22 Aug so it looks like I'm only losing one issue. If I can't have a real hard copy I'm done! I was in Jack's Sport and Marine in May 1989 and found a copy of the Premier Feb/March and before I went home found the next two issues in different places and went home got a subscription and never looked back. As far as the web sight goes I can't even log in and if you don't log in you can't even look at the post's. As far as Musky Hunter TV goes I have up to season 11 and I've seen 12 for sale at the Musky Hunter Mag. not sure what season there on I can watch them on CBS whatever it is. But to buy them?

Posts: 504 Location: Ludington, MI | As a writer this saddens me, but the shift in focus to tournaments and tournament anglers a couple years ago spelled the end of me subscribing. MHM, to me, was Steve and Jim helping people catch "a" muskie. There are still great articles and content, but the change in feel happened coincidentally to the Backlash Podcast and Musky 360 Podcast starting up. Lee and Robbie's Today's Angler on YouTube also had an impact, I'm sure. So I now consume much more by podcast/YouTube and I consult Jim Saric's MHTV app for sun/moon instead of the magazine. I still buy every book that is published, though. Edited by tundrawalker00 7/14/2022 6:48 AM

ZERO interest in whatever digital version they plan. Feel ripped off. Same thing happened with Esox Angler. Seems EA ran a special promo for 2 year subscripts, then closed down. Posts: 795 Location: Delavan, WI | Yeah I feel the same as Rudedog and Emtynet, I had a subscription until Feb of next year so only received half of that, I will not be subscribing to the digital version, been a subscriber of the paper version since 94 and have every issue since, what I find the most frustrating is they didn't even bother to send the subscribers any kind of notice or offer a refund or anything I found out about this news on here, but they had no issue taking my $ and not giving it back, I'll probably no longer order the collectable lure either Edited by muskymartin67 7/14/2022 11:48 AM

Posts: 298 | I’m losing out on a year of paid subscription. Since it appears they used that to create a decent app I’m ok with that. Certainly not thrilled but when I renewed for 2 years instead of 1 this outcome crossed my mind. Weekly up to date articles is better than the magazine if they make good on that. Magazines will keep on dying. I wish Muskies Inc would have killed the Magazine 15 years ago and put that money towards basically anything else. Stocking/kids/Fisheries Projects There are so many more ways to get info these days. The delayed nature of magazines just doesn’t fit an instant world. I will continue to enjoy revisiting my old InFish mag collection every winter. Half the fun is the ads and most of the fishing info is timeless.

Posts: 795 Location: Delavan, WI | It's not so much about the $13 or $14 but more or less the principal of how it went down, you would think they could have finished out the year and told people ahead of time rather than just announce mid year we're out, and I bet they had no issues cashing a check for a subscription the month before the announcement I don't believe it was an overnight decision just very poor execution on their part and you would think an email would have been sent to all subscribers with an apology or something, but they did manage to send an email for the collectible lure asking for more of my $ Edited by muskymartin67 7/14/2022 4:29 PM

Posts: 415 Location: SW Ohio | I definitely will miss the magazine. Guess I'm a dinosaur in the sense that I like to read and digest articles vs get instant gratification for a video. The Musky360 started with articles but evolved into an almost 100% video or podcast format. Downloaded it but don't use it much except for trolling charts. If it turns into a paid subscription, it will be deleted. Same with MHM as mine goes for another 2 years. But I'm hoping Gregg and Tony keep the articles flowing. You two guys listening to this? ![]() Edited by OH Musky 7/14/2022 5:09 PM

Posts: 20248 Location: oswego, il | Gregg and or Tony have explained this on their podcast, YouTube and backlash Podcast. If they kept it going it does permanently. This was always the future it just happened sooner than later due to supply cost. The app is free by the way and information will come out in near real time. Weekly articles. I get some would rather have a hard copy. I'm fine with the direction it's headed. Progress stops for no one.
