Posts: 667 Location: Wisconsin | I am thinking of building a 1760 single I fish smaller waters and wonder if I can power with a 90hp rather than going up to a 115. Anyone running that set up? I am wondering what I could expect. I don't need a lot of speed but want to be sure I can plane and cruise effectively. I know more hp, max out and all that, but I am not interested in a 150 Any other input/must haves would be appreciated as well thanks Edited by Clammer 10/5/2021 6:14 PM

Posts: 10 | I have one with a duel console and have a 150 which I think it more than enough power. With that being said I don't think i would put anything less than a 115 on it. Don't think you will be happy with the performance on a 90hp. Just my thoughts.

Posts: 667 Location: Wisconsin | Thanks for responding tbag. I appreciate your input. I'm in StGermain, anyone nearby have a 1760 I could come by and see? It seems No one has any boats from any brand in stock to look at! Its a difficult time to be purchasing a boat, that's for sure

Posts: 51 | I believe someone on this site this past summer was trying to decide about repowering an older Ranger and they ended up buying a Suzuki 115 thru Northern Edge Marine in Land O Lakes which is pretty close to you. They are Wisconsin's biggest Suzi dealer. If you are open on your motor, I'd call them not only about the 115 model, but the 140hp as well. Might be able to get a deal on a fall leftover, i.e. they have motors but no boats to hang them on. Good luck!

Posts: 627 Location: Madison, WI | I owned a 1760 single console, with a 115 4stroke. Granted it was an 07 and motors may have more oomph now, but That boat topped out mid to high 30s but hole shot was not great. I tried several props and motor height positions but none made any great differences. IMO I would not power that rig with anything less than a 115. You will need more than a 90 to power in and out of waves should you be caught in any.
