| Pretty much what the title says. With my Tranx 500, when I start reeling after a cast, the thumb bar only pops up about 80% of the way. I thoroughly cleaned, oiled, and greased the reel, but that didn't help (although everything else seems to work much better).
Any ideas how to fix it? I have zero mechanical skills, but my guess is that I need a new clutch pawl spring. |

Location: Mt. Zion, IL | Did you totally remove the clutch plate and clean the frame and plate? Thin coat of grease is all you need here. When mine hang up this is all I have to do. Also examine the pinion gear for damage where it connects to the spool. Could be preventing it from seating fully. |

I didn't remove the clutch plate, but I did grease the area. I'll remove it and chck the pinion gear. Thanks! |

Location: MN | Check what kind of shape the black plastic piece the thumb bar slides against is in also. I believe they call it the clutch bar guide. If it is worn or roughed up that may be contributing though the clutch spring is pretty powerful and usually overcomes that. Ryan may have the right suggestion |
