Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | I was asked by someone last night if the story of a huge muskie that was measured and released by the DNR was true. The size was very large and close to the Hayward area. I know the lake and its a trophy fishery for sure.
Whats the biggest fish you have heard of released in Wisconsin, either by the DNR or fishermen?
Was their any major big fish released that were documented?
I am not looking for lakes but just some of the sizes of fish that were confirmed to be released last year. |

Location: DES MOINES, IOWA | Mike, how about the size of the Musky in Musky Hunter Magazine that was netted years ago, from Lac Courte Oreilles by Hayward. The DNR guy holding it looks amazed, scarred.I hear of DNR netting world records of all species off and on.Sure wish that information was available by state/country/province even if they didn,t tell you what lake. The Lac Courte fish sure looks like world record caliber, and wonder if bigger have been netted. |

| A few years back, a commercial fisherman on The Mississippi River showed me a picture of a walleye that they caught in their nets up in 4 feet of water in the backwaters. The net was full of 6-8" shad and the walleye was 38" long. I don't know the girth, but she was definitely eating those shad. If I havd to guess, I'd bet bet she was pushing almost 20 pounds. Eyes bugging out of her head, not a pretty fish, but the biggest walleye that I ever saw. They said that they caught several over the years from 36-38" and they were always in the nets that were full of big shad. Makes sense doesn't it.
