As I said.. in the "Whats the plan of attack" post. I was on a secret mission...

Well I got to spend a 1/2 day on the water with Steve Cady and many others from both boards. Was fun to see the faces of the folks that we all see here on a daily basis. Both Steve a myself had a great time fishing Minnetonka on Sunday morning. We moved 4 fish total, Steve set the hook on a decent fish, and well..... you know the rest of the story.

We are going to have many outings next year sponsered by MuskieFIRST to bring all of us together. Fellowship in muskie fishing is half the fun and MuskieFIRST would like to bring that together for you. I will need some folks willing to help put an easy 5 to 10 boat outing together on there favorite ponds. We can have these from NY to MN if we want. Outings are easy. Just need a date, meeting point and a bar to talk it over afterwords.

Stay tuned for more details, we might even get a prize thing going if you wish.. I am looking for some feed back on this.

Jason, thats a super idea!My first thought is a central wisconsin outing below Hwy. 10 before the rest of the state opens.Kinda an early season get together to maybe make some new 2002 ski-friends.I could probably talk J.Shillinger into a little help/prep work for such an ordeal!I don`t know much, but I know if you need a hand with something,I got 2! I'm with Handyman...an early May is S. WI would be cool.

I'm willing to coordinate one on Lake Wissota in late June.

I''m in....and I can vouch for Driveway, Boro, jm_03 and Running Hot. I''m thinking an ice-out trip on some of my more Southern waters.

Good idea!
We could certainly look at Butternut Lake! Great tradition and 1006 acres. Plenty of lodging in the near area also! Let me know if I can help!

I think Slamr when speaking for us forgot to mention a significant requirement, there must be a local ballet nearby our Rendezvous.

I agree with a May date. How about Little Green or Pewaukee?

Jason, not to change the subject or anything but since you seemed to kind of flash by the results portion of the tournament....exactly how many fish have you put in a boat with you this year, during tournament or outing hours ???? I'm sure I have missed two or three tournaments wins, places and shows, and that your tournament total(by my nonchalant reckoning)is NOT ACTUALLY ZERO??? Is it???

Is your boat cursed or is it some personal problem you have??? I have a lucky totem I would be willing to rent you during my down times(and in fact would be willing to rent to highest bidder usually from dec. to march and june thru august except if I get to do Canada or Wisconsin trip over the summer, I would need to pick it up for a week...), and of course with your apparent luck you would need to pay a healthy deposit up front.

First six feet,

Luck in tourneys.. Yes I could use some.. But I have fun and meet lots of good folks, thats 1/2 of what fishing tourneys is all about. Did I catch a fish in a tourney this year, Nope, but that does not make me a bad fisherman. Just because you move plenty of fish, loose some and get short ones during an event on waters you have never fished before in you life, does not make anyone a bad fisherman. In fact it sometimes brings you back to reality. Makes you think harder and come up with new and exciting patterns. Thats the where the learning curve comes in. Thats what I like about tourneys, it presses the learning curve and makes you breakdown a body of water and come up with a plan.

I wont be fishing many events next year, might not even fish the PMTT at all. I have some great bluegill trips planned with my daughter next season. Those are the times you never get back. I will also be making lots of outings and enjoying the fellowship of the fellow anglers on this site.

As far as muskies, I had a good season this year, not as many on the high end, but good numbers of decent fish and happy clients in my boat. I have had better years grant you, but didnt everyone for the most part. Very goofy wheather this year.[]

Ok back to the subject at hand...

I need people to help, folks willing to give out there phone numbers and inform people where to meet.

From reading this post, I think we have this right now.

JoMusky- Spring Little Green outing

Slamr- Webster, maybe Kinkead if his trailer holds out. Dec, March, April outings.

The Handyman- Petenwell flowage in May

Jono- Wissota in June

Rob Meyers- Butternut in September

We have more out there I know it.. I would like to see MN, KY, NY and even IA outings this year. Maybe a LOTW weekly outing for a change.

Need more ideas... keep this brain storming going.

Jason,

Hope you don't mind if I jump in here.

I'm wondering from the Minnesota guys if they would be interested in a Muskie "League"

Two person teams--- 8 to 10 traveling Outings next year. Plus a Championship final.

4 to 5 hour outings on split between weeknights and weekends.

You do not need to attend every outing but we would have a minimum # to qualify for the finals.

Entry fee very cheap $10-$20 for the whole league.

Individual event awards, Big Fish of the year award, and Trophys/plaques for the finals.

Let me know what you think as well!

[email protected]

Thanks!

We have a loosely organized "league" of sorts here in Western WI. We fish every Wed. night from 5:30 till dark. $10.00 a guy as many people in the boat as you want but more than three might be considered suicide. We start the 1st week of season and finish up when daylight time ends. We rotate lakes between 6 and 7 different bodies of water here in Western WI. Afterward we go to one of the many area saloons for drinks and eats. (part of the money is taken out to pay bar bill). Also, I would be willing to get an outing going in this part of the state on Deer, Bone, Cedar, or the Apple River. I will have to set my tourney schedule and let you guys about a date however. Hope to meet some of you this year at the MN Musky Expo or out on the water. Will be fishing all the tourneys at Rollie & Helens again as well as Butternut, Mille Lacs and Cass. Look for me in a blue and silver Ranger 519 with a 225 Opti.
To those of you that remember the year at Butternut when no fish were caught in two days, my partner and I were the lucky drawing winners. LOL[] [] [] [] [] []

I think one of the biggest things for us to figure out for fishing away gettogeters will be affordable/safe/secure lodging for the traveling fisherman. This is where the local guys can do there homework so everyone can sleep and not worry about there boat and equipment. As everyone knows that we have invested meg-a-bucks,and that investment is ALWAYS a concern!Maybe rent a whole cheap motel or some type of private campsite?(with electric)Just think`in ahead!Idea`s?On a similar note been thinking for a long time about buying a property in Northern Wi.and starting a Musky Camp!Get 12-15 people together get the papers drawn up by a realestate lawyer/with club rules and start a lodge! This way we would have the buying power of a bunch of people, otherwize these types of propertys are very hard to afford.I have intimate workings of a hunting club that did this and has grown to 3-propertys and is set-up for the grandkids, grandkids!Lets explore this this winter cause I would want to be a part of something of this nature!I have tons of plumbing and electrical parts to donate to such a PROJECT!Just a thought! What about having one in pennsylvania or Ohio?

We can have them anywhere.. We can even have winners and a Championship event too. But I dont want to see any cash involved.. Maybe a trophy for the winner of it all and MuskieFIRST can provide that.

What we did in MN in Steve Cadys event, is everyone brings an old lure and the winner takes all..

We could have all the event winners compete for a Championship event too. Run a 30" size limit and honor system with photos too to put on site.

I want to see events from NY to MN its easy done and just like "The Handyman" said.. The event person just has to make a couple phone calls and let us know where to stay ect.

Slamr,,, no excuses..... you will run one.. LOL[;)] []

The handyman is correct in thinking that the local organizer will have to check on facilities. As far as an event in my area in WI. I think that we should fish on Bone Lake and make our "headquarters" at the Blacksmith Shop bar and Motel. Lots of room and outside plug ins pretty much designed for the fisherman. Good food there also all the tacos you can eat on Friday night for like $5.00. Also it's just a short drive from the lake. Denny and Ellen would be more than happy to have us there. I can arrange for a map or directions or phone #s and the like. I would also take care of reservations for you guys if need be. I will get dates straightened out right after the holidays. Would be fun!

So.. are we going to have Cash outings or winner takes all on a pile of junk baits..

Either way.. we are going to have a set schedule page for next season up soon so you can plan trips and Steve Cady is going to head it up..

I am for..a non cash related outings.. Thats my vote..It can still be a contest.. but with no cash involed.. just a trophy for the most point of 30+ fish. Of course the more points the more chance you can be on the top.. We can also include event points, like 20 points for each event you come to..

Fun.. stuff for next summer[]
