Heard a rumor that a 59"er was caught by a walleye guy recently.

The pic was sent to me and that person said the claim was 60. It's a long fish.

I have seen pics of legit 58" fish out of GB on multiple occasions. One on a bump. I could see it happening. I also know of about 5 bass fisherman that have caught 60"ers that have been, well, not 60".

Looking at the photo I see a really long head, thick fisherman , a long tail section and finally also look how tail curves away and behind the guy! I think it’s very possible the fish in the photo is in that 57” to 60 “ range.....

Nice fish

I spoke with Lynn Niklasch last night regarding the first picture. Lynn is a walleye guide but does a fair amount of musky guiding in the fall on the lower bay. He was ok with me posting this. His son Hunter caught the fish a couple Saturdays ago. He and Lynn were pre-fishing for a walleye tournament They were pulling crawler harnesses over 46' of water setting up for a pass when the rod went off. Sounds like it was quite a tussle and they had to chase the fish several times with the trolling motor. He told Hunter several times they likely wouldn't land it. Lynn was ultimately able to land the fish using only a RS Green Bay (walleye) net. Unfortunately he only had a 30" bump board in the boat. He was able to run a string along the fish to measure. He said he was very conservative with the knot placement to cover the curvature of the fish (like three inches). He later measured and remeasured and came in at 60". Lynn has handled tons of muskies and probably thousands of big walleyes. Is it high 50's?, I think so. Is it 60", unfortunately we will never know. Either way congrats to Hunter, that is a very special fish.
